  1. Deadline: LOL NVMMMMMMMMMM
  2. NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THAT See it again for funsies I plan to hold a movie night for it but gotta wait till it 2-3 months for it :c still in theaters and it's only been a month since release. Most movies land on DVD/digital release 3 months after theatrical release. So ETA for it to come HBO Max would be as early as June since it's already confirmed in their commercials they're gonna have it
  3. Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo Been a while since the last movie event and I wanted to host one for you all. This time I'll put up a list of movies that were released within the past year and you vote on which one(s) you want to see. Movie with the most votes will win and in the event of a tie I'll toss up another vote. There are 5 movies to choose from; this is multiple choice so choose as many as you like. Voting ends tomorrow night at 11:59 PM EST. After this poll closes, I'll create a new one for the date and time, because I'd like to run it this weekend. You have 32 hours to participate! Trailers below! Death on the Nile Dune F9 Free Guy The King's Man
  4. Fuck it from now on we're doing 3 am promotions
  5. Happy late night promshun With a specific spot available on the Events Team, it's only a matter of time we bring a fresh face to the seat. First, give a huge thanks to @gweenfor his work as an Events Team Manager alongside Acer. These two bounced off each other very well and unfortunately the time has come to an end with that duo. However, we're looking forward to this guy stepping into role and we know he'll do a great job with Acer. You've seen him as an Event Coordinator for a very long time and he's a wonderful Server Manager for TF2. Please join me in congratulating Poke in having that sick italic name as the new Events Manager! His responsibilities will stay the same with the addition of co-managing the team. Congrats!
  6. that's alright Creten at least my pronouns aren't little/bitch - @Charliere
  7. I genuinely prefer TS over the two (Ventrilo and Mumble*), however, I prefer Discord above them all. Discord has grown on me since the transition and the cool features it has to offer actually speaks to me. It's increasing popularity and exposure makes me realize having TS and Discord co-exist is a waste of time and effort. Remember, we tried both and decided to close down TeamSpeak eventually. I've seen a few communities run both simultaneously. It either leads to their TS shutting down or the Discord server simply gets more attention over the TS server. We'd be splitting people in the community by having both co-exist and eventually hurts the presence of having people in a singular platform when that happens. Look at GFL - one of the biggest gaming communities to exist and they're heavily dependent on Discord. They run multiple Discords and only promote the main one on their forums and main Steam group. I don't even think they have TeamSpeak anymore (?) and they're 5-10x bigger than us lol. It's just a matter of appealing to the target audience. The target audience for us remains to be Discord users and will continue until something comes in the future and beats Discord. Funny thing is that closing down TS and putting all our eggs into the Discord basket actually made it more net positive than having both TS and Discord open. Influx of newer generation of players combined with older generation of players that stuck around formed a nice balance. We were not getting this influx of players as much as before back when we either had TS only or when we had both open. People that preferred TS would continue to stay on it while those that preferred Discord stayed there, however, that didn't help with the social engagement for the community as a whole. Can you imagine seeing a portion of staff and regulars on TS while new people can't even interact with us because people are sitting on TS? Same thing vice-versa. That hurt SG as a whole. Sometimes you have to sacrifice things you don't want to for the better of the community. That's where closing down TS came into the picture. Yeah, it's more secure but I disagree with you about Discord susceptible to deplatforming. I don't recall a time it's pulled a move like that. Sure Twitter has done it but Discord? Maybe give me an example because I haven't seen it happen. Discord is well-known all over the world now. There's a reason you'll see it up there as a form of social media alongside Twitter, FB, etc. Just look at YouTube and Twitch gaming streamers. They have their own communities built not only around the platform they stream on, but they also create pubic Discords to gather their viewers to form their own community. YouTube, Epic Games, and many other places offer Discord Nitro to new subscribers as an incentive to join the platform and be familiar with it. What does TeamSpeak have to offer for such people? You're less likely to find newcomers wanting to hop on a TeamSpeak when you can create a hub with Discord. TeamSpeak will only speak out to the older generation of players here at SG. Most of these players aren't around as much as before either. A small portion still remains on staff, a few retired staff and members come around, but the rest are long gone with an occasional hello and goodbye. So why would we want to bring back TS when majority of our community heavily uses Discord? I come from a generation of Ventrilo but overtime you begin to realize that things eventually become obsolete because something else beats it. If TeamSpeak 3 wasn't so outdated back in the day and if TS 5 (was rumored 4) had came out, then maaaaaybe we would have reconsidered closing it down. Have you seen it's development? It's been in beta since 2019 Btw, this is not me saying that once TS 5 is officially out of beta that we'd open TeamSpeak again. It's me saying that the ship has sailed and the likelihood of considering having both again is extremely low. We shut down TS back in June 2020 and because it's been 1.5 years, I think it's safe to say that it did end up in the community's best interests in doing so.
  8. we're a mumble community now
  9. No, I don't play on the servers because life takes priority for myself and the rest of us. We're all grown adults much older than you with bigger responsibilities to fill while running the community as a team. This happens in every single rank of the community and not just at our rank; people in IA, SM, and even CA have the same thing going for them. We're not all of the same age, it's a wide-spread in the numbers. It's why we've expanded the BD team numerous times to fill in gaps when necessary. You can only do this enough times till you run out of people to keep the community running in good hands. Keywords: GOOD HANDS. Besides, you've been CA before and you were practically inactive half the time of your position (hint: they wanted to demote you for inactivity), so you trying to calling us out for practically doing the same thing is coming off as ironic, is it not? Make a player complaint? When are YOU going to actually do something about it by taking initiative yourself? You can't just expect us to perm someone based on your word in this thread. Actions add up and if the IA team feels its necessary to extend that ban into a perm then they will. The kid got banned off Discord recently anyways, but no it does not translate onto the servers until it gets reported with evidence unless witnessed by an actual admin. Some admins are lenient while others aren't. I'm sure as hell not going to berate someone over the way the admin because it's different for how everyone does it. You've been in staff long enough to know how things work here. It's actually hilarious when people assume this is how things are ran. The amount of times we see this and just get a chuckle out of it because only people who are in a leadership position know exactly how promotions work. You only see this because it's from your perspective on the outside. This doesn't happen here. Why? Because we call each other out on our biases if we're blind. 99.9% of the time we acknowledge when we're biased but KNOW when to put it aside to make logical decisions. That's the point of being in a leadership position. Have I been biased before? Yes, once. Was I called out on it? Abso-fucking-lutely by Caution. It's not only based on merit but also the desire to step-in and help when people acknowledge help is needed. Why should we turn someone away that is offering to help take over when we're at a crossroads with no other potential path do go down? You play the odds when you can. Ignorance is bliss. We do but with the CAs and SMs. Not with the community because touch upon topics like this during every community meeting. Something you should know since.. you know.. you were CA at one point? Or did you forget how this works? Lol no. It doesn't work like that but you keep thinking that if that's what you truly believe. Agreed. It's like you forgot we were at these ranks at some point, therefore we know what is expected and what we would like to do to go beyond that. It's almost as if people are not allowed to have their own leisure time outside of SG and have to be robotic towards the community. People can do as they please and play whatever the fuck they want while they're still here in SG. I do not give a flying fuck if someone poured in 500 hours towards Lost Ark or any other video game but still maintain their responsibilities in SG. People like that exist. You keep assuming shit is being ignored or temporarily fixed when that's not the case. We are all actively engaged through MULTIPLE channels. Just because you don't see us talking in one specific channel doesn't mean we're not there. Yes, we can and should be more open and vocal about the things we have in works, but to constantly have this shitty mindset about it because this is your perspective only makes you look like an asshole tbh.
  10. LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  11. $562/$1400 raised so far! Let's make it to $1000
  12. @Poke: Do you actually drive a Tesla? @TheZZL: Yes, I drive my mommy's Tesla.
  13. Just gonna make a quick reply to clarify something Shutting down the servers to trim the fat doesn't necessarily solve the problem. Normally, we do not shut down servers unless we do not have interested staff in helping to manage it. If they aren't affecting the resources allocated on the dedi and do not put a dent in the SG funds then as Directors we do not find a major concern with keeping them. TF2 won't be shutdown out of the blue when we have higher ups dedicated to it. It may not be in the most productive state, but there is interest shown in it, and we generally don't shy away from people wanting to do the work. Squad is used for a completely different purpose - which the main focus is to run Squad tournaments. Squad has a lot of popularity in the competitive scene and we offer to run tourneys with the aid of Ghost while having our name out there in the Squad. We've already closed down a few servers in the past such as KZ and Rust, but closing down server after server doesn't make much of a difference to the issue at hand. This
  14. @ThRza: Where would the CA team be without me @Hawks: Probably further ahead
  15. Next time I was AFK then sorry
  16. OH, HELLO THERE! I stole this one from @BoM because it’s been a while since you’ve seen a Black Rain post and he’s a good guy who can’t say no. Can you believe we’re about to hit our 15th year as a community next month? Now think about how many years you’ve been a part of SG in those 15 years and let it sink in. You are a part of SG's history. Crazy, isn’t it? Now let’s continue our 2022 in Steam Gamers with a BANG. Starting with a juicy set of additions to this kick-ass team, we got four new guys who are ready to bring the Steam Gamers brand to a whole new level. We’re excited to see what they bring to the table. They get to rep a sick salmon color, so please join me in welcoming Dom, Rygor, Gwert, and Mikey to the Marketing Team! Their new responsibilities will include: Manage all third party sites/applications. Manage all advertising, sponsorships, and affiliations. Recommend upgrades and general marketing aspects for the community. Research what the community likes / doesn't like. Upkeep the image of SG and help expand. Work with the Media Team to manage branding and community design. Work with Media team to manage social media accounts (Youtube, Twitch, etc). This next guy is an SG favorite. You’ve seen him across multiple ranks, from Community Advisor to Events Manager and Server Manager. He came back a while ago but once again he’s ready to go beyond that. Start chanting his name because we all know and love the dude named Koooooooooooooooper. Please join me in welcoming back Kopsta to Community Advisor! His new responsibilities will include: Work with the higher staff on implementing important decisions and projects Handling player complaints and issuing bans Moderation of the forum Give awards to members on request Send group invitations to members on request Post in-game server problems on the forum Help in any way to make the servers fun Handle reported posts on the forum Before we move on, we’d like to take a moment and say thank you to @Trazz. He’s been with us for a long time and had a significant impact in the community. He’s one of the quickest learners that grew to become one of the most experienced server managers I’ve seen. We’ve witnessed his strengths and saw potential from this guy across the various titles he held, which led to an opportunity to have a seat on the board. Although his journey ends here, he’s put in a tremendous amount of work and dedicated hours upon hours, and for that, we cannot let him go without acknowledging it. Thank you, Shrimp. While we say goodbye to Mr. Avocado Man, please congratulate him on obtaining his new shiny gold rank. Trazz, you are a Steam Gamers Legend. Cheers We’re not done yet… Trazz left some big shoes to fill in, but we have no doubts this guy will excel in this position. He has bounced around from rank to rank during his time here. The ultimate troll that messes with Greggy G with random reminders in Discord. Offers his Santa hat skills free of charge every Christmas. Loves spamming GIFs as much as BoM and I do. An absolute gem of a guy. Please give a big applause and warm welcome to our newest Director, crazedkangaroo! His new responsibilities along with a badass red colored name will include: Support/build/fix servers Approve admin applications Set up new Admin and Supporter access Issue admin warnings/punishments Keep the community updated of any changes Final say in all admin disputes Plan for growth (website/servers) Support forum/plugins/logos Review and implement community suggestions Promote/demote server admins Handle admin complaints Handle disputes among fellow admins Be a role model to all admins/setting by example Collect donations and manage subscriptions Manage the website, forums, and bansite Manage staffing and responsibilities ... anything else that needs to be done While we’re nearing the end of January, there’s still a long road ahead. We’re constantly growing and evolving, and we cannot wait to show you guys what we have in store. Congratulations everyone! Well deserved!
