  1. What a terrible description of the song. Also, I wouldn't call the ending of the song a resolution. The song is a work of art which puts the listener in the middle of yet another one of this couple's frequent arguments bringing up their regrets, their partner's noxious behavior, and past relationship issues. The two go back and forth taking shots at one another with what is perceived to be their insecurities and indecisions. They rile each other up, "now you mad at me, I got you hollerin' for nothin' " and curse at one another until it turns into the "resolution" you mentioned, which in reality is them taking advantage of the immediate gratification they can get from each other in the form of sex. Sex, being used as a distraction from the problems they bring up against one another, is their way of continuing the theme within the song which is deflection, as it only escalated to that point when Taylour Paige's "character" was trying to steal her keys back from Kendrick to go to work. The song begins with an angelic, barely audible, "Hold onto each other", until we hear the disillusioning "This is what the world sounds like", immediately followed by Taylour Paige's "Nah, fuck you n****" and Kendrick's "Fuck you, bitch". The song is a reality check and a hope for higher ambitions: something I feel the whole project represents. It's, "Hold onto each other", even if it means you're trapped in a toxic and (literally) insane relationship because nothing changes, but it's better than being alone in such an unreliable world. You'd hope it all slowly gets better, even though the only solace we get here from Kendrick (that I can tell of so far, a day and a half after release) is that Kendrick's own expression and therapy from these songs represent his personal growth. Maybe your displeasure from this track comes from not only the very real social and cultural issues referenced and challenged, but also your lack of understanding. If it's too complex for you, just skip the song and withhold your misinformed opinions rather than simplifying it to "generic fictional couple argues".
  2. Whenever scams/phishing links are brought up I'm always reminded of what @roux said from this thread a few years back, so I figured I'll share that message with you all in case it helps you remember: This'll also include QR Codes, as you can't tell where a random QR code is going to bring you until you scan it. This reminds me of CoinBase's QR Code SuperBowl AD, which got millions of people to scan it. To everyone, just be smart, and if something's too good to be true it probably isn't.

  6. What I'm discussing can be as simple as that, but when you're not shitposting you may be able to notice the nuance of the topic. Intercultural, multi-language, code switching and its effects on bilingual first generation immigrants and minorities.
  7. Code Switching is the switch in one's linguistic speech or mannerisms depending on their social situation (see the last quote for a better definition). In my readings of How To Date A Brown Girl (black girl, white girl, or halfie) by Junot Díaz and Caribbean Collusion: Junot Díaz, Edwidge Danticat and the "New Yorker" Fiction Podcast by Anne Margaret Castro for my Literature class, I stumbled across this Harvard Business Review article called The Costs of Code-Switching. Here is a fine example given by the article as it discusses Black people code-switching: With all the context aside, I would just like to know if anyone here notices themselves code switch, or if they had any thoughts on the concept. The first example that comes to my mind about code switching in my own life is the way I conduct myself in front of my extended family, where we all speak Farsi, and my friends at school, where I'm explicitly speaking English. Even unrelated to race, I often find myself code switching among different friend groups, either online or in real life, to, as the article puts it so well, "optimize the comfort of others".

  12. This scene has me most excited, especially with that line, "We shall tell him the truth". Also those bots and that location definitely didn't look like the TVA we're used to from Loki, so this has got to be the reality authority or something

  17. Wordle 231 5/6 Congrats man, really rose up the ranks in the last two years. I'm reminded of us playing the Minecraft server 2 years ago, sitting in calls until the early morning talking SG and how badly we wanted admin, look at us now.
  18. Yeah... what he said! I would also recommend checking out a few more definitions/explanations here, as they'll help you understand how logic can be used as well (For example, if you give one prisoner a freeday, and absolutely know all other prisoners have been in your line of sight the whole rest of the round, and that one prisoner comes back with a secret like maggie from jb_arcade- you can deduce they are KOS as they were definitely the one who did that secret, given no guards did it).

  20. Yes, it does. It is not only important to have a diverse court, but also to have diversity in every aspect of society. If there's only white men presiding over the courts, they'd be making judgments from their shared lived experiences, with a lack of empathy, understanding, or lived experience on the vast array of populations they fail to represent. It is important to have a black and female justice, as 14% of the population of the US is black, and a little over 50% is female. Biden saying he is going to elect the first black and female justice is a step in the right direction, don't think just because he said that that qualifications are thrown out the window- Why would you even assume that? The name being thrown around for the nominee to replace Breyer is Ketanji Brown Jackson, who seems to have an esteemed reputation of being a circuit judge, and clerking under Justice Breyer for a few years. When non-hispanic white americans make up only 60% of the population of the US, it is unfortunate to have a Supreme Court with a 77% white majority- a clear example of structural and systematic racism. If you want to go a step further, you have females who make up 50% of the population but only have a 33% representation on the court- a clear example of societal discrimination https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045221 https://www.supremecourt.gov/about/biographies.aspx What will be interesting to see is if the senate (Dem controlled atm) cannot get its shit together before the midterms to get the nomination through, which it will then stall due to malign neglect as the democrats are surely to lose the midterms in November.
