fully agreed. Death Magnetic was a big disappointment...

well, there's actually only 2 entrances, but even so it only takes 1 CT in the sewer to defeat the whole T team that comes down after them. I've never seen anyone sit directly under the hold so the T would die from the fall, but the constant sewer camping is just annoying...actually, I just don't care for that map anyway...

yeah, but I would suggest keeping your AA but instead dropping your resolution. for the most part, you can get just as much of a framerate increase but it typically looks better when you have less jaggies than to have larger textures. try them both and pick whatever you like the best. and DEFINITELY turn off hdr like Shadowex3 said above this, it'll drop your rates a lot on HDR maps when turned on.

you could check that nothing else (like your RAM) came loose while you were changing out cards, or maybe you have to reset your CMOS settings (there should be a little jumper on your motherboard labeled "CMOS", "BIOS", "SETUP", something like that- just slide it over a peg, turn it on until it beeps and says it's reset, then put it back. make sure you're powered off before you move it though). But as Shadowex3 said, I'm surprised that little power supply could even get out enough to run the 8600.

Also, there was an really crappy version of electric on the uprising server before it went away that didn't have enough slots for everyone to play, and it just wouldn't let you spawn. the server was ok. but that certainly is an intriguing idea, and seems to make sense.

yep...your LCD is screwed. it's probably from some kind of physical damage, but that doesn't mean it was done knowingly. they aren't exactly tanks, so it wouldn't take much to mess it up. sometimes you can get it to work by just pressing in on the sides/corners a little bit, I don't know why but it might work. otherwise, I hope you still have a warranty on it because you can send it in to Acer and they should fix it for you.

Alienware used to be so bleeding edge that it had driver/component problems (which was lame). Now they're on the complete other end of the blade so they suck. I'd custom build any day. And for laptops, I've got an Asus G50v that I really like, I bet it could easily out run alienwares and it was probably about half the price to (last I checked anyway).

Yeah, I've noticed that the server's been crashing a lot for quite a while, it's not really a recent development. It's not a huge deal for me, but for people who randomly stumble across the server (they exist, right?) it could turn off people not only because we have an unstable server but because they might not find it again.
