I really don't understand why it has to be one or the other... discord is free and teamspeak's licensing fees are more than covered by donations. Say what you want about not 'forcing it down peoples throats' but the reality is if people prefer the program and access gets removed in the future you are effectively forcing them to use discord to participate in a similar environment. You can say that y'all are 'listening closely to the communities feedback' but where are the results? Most of the established members here clearly prefer teamspeak over discord for voice whether due to reasons listed here or better quality through codecs that discord does not offer. I'm trying to keep this as neutral as possible because I don't want to come off as an asshole but saying shit like we're just acting out of nostalgia is ridiculous and very clearly not a 'factual' argument like that of which you would like us to provide. I get that 'Discord is the future' or whatever but from personal experience (sneks community, communities for other games, ect) discord does not maintain a consistent voice presence whatsoever. Basically my question is why keep bringing this issue up when there is clearly pushback every time for legit reasons? Both platforms cant coexist? P.S Roux that post comes off as extremely patronizing.

So here's my thoughts on discord looking at it from seeing other communities discords and our own. Discord does not foster the same voice culture that Teamspeak does. The servers may be the most important aspect of this community when it comes to introducing members to us but when it comes to fostering relationships teamspeak has provided that essential environment for many years at this point. The trial may go well and it may go well for a few months afterwards but eventually just as all other community servers I've seen on discord you'll have dead voice channels and incoherent chat channels. I hope this goes well for the communities sake but I could really see this decision backfiring 6 months from the go live with a dead discord and people scratching their heads trying to figure out how this once close knit community is unraveling.

The entire point of requiring people to register on the forums in order to use all of teamspeaks features is to drive people to the forums. What you're asking for is akin to letting people have sub for free just because they cant be asked to login to paypal.

Personally waiting on the pixel buds 2 but I wouldn't if I were you. In ear translations sounds like a nice feature but Google has a spotty track record with earbuds already. Currently using a pair of jlab air executives (70ish on Amazon) and they get the job done. On the larger side so they might get uncomfortable at times but the sound quality is great for wireless.

That was very well written but I didn't expect anything less when the time came, Erik. I can definitely understand and agree with a lot of the experiences you have laid out in this post. I too first joined this community as a teenager looking to bury myself in video games to escape the hell that my life had became after the man who I called my father was murdered by a drunk driver and my mother went full on alcoholic mode. I too have been in similar positions in regards to mindset about this place that you have experienced when moving up and down the ranks over the years. I don't know what I was expecting on the night that I met you after you returned from your ban. I believe I was either a CA or AO at the time and was thinking who the fuck is this potatos retard, but, there's just something about how charismatic and genuine you can be that pulled me into becoming what I would consider good friends almost immediately. We've had our ups and downs over the last 3 years or so but I can say that out of everyone I've met at this community you are one of the brightest and best we've ever seen. I don't know the full story about what you have going on in real life but I think through our conversations I have a pretty good idea... You can definitely make anything you want to accomplish happen man I have the upmost faith in you. I want to publicly thank you for the many conversations we've had here over the years where you've kept me grounded in times where I was ready to burn the whole thing down whether in regards to my personal life or steam-gamers. I appreciate everything you have done for me as a friend and as a 'co-worker' here. I know we may not be as close as once before for whatever reason but I just wanted to let you know I still love you as a person and wish the best for you going forward. Enjoy your new found free time/freedom and don't hesitate to reach out if you need to talk or anything in general amigo.

I think crying over getting freekilled is a plague on the server and has gotten worse over the last 3-4 years. I think all of this is unnecessary and the people complaining about missing out on a/a few rounds is ridiculous. Anyone who gets (legit) heated over getting freekilled needs to reevaluate their life and emotional well-being. tl;dr: crying about freekills is literally more annoying than getting freekilled.

I can see why you would think that. The way you currently have this set up though it will literally be a coin toss if people will show up anyways. If you set it through the in-game menu not only will the tournament complete that night you can post the schedule in advance and give people more notice than 'lul xd figure out how to schedule 5 games with five different people's which ultimately turns into weeks of waiting for this event to wrap up.

Bruh there's literally tournament functionality in the game to facilitate this you don't need to make a bracket or anything.

You lengthened the event back to your initial proposal. The teleport functionality will probably make the server unplayable and is literally rp breaking. Whoops didn't read the fine print. Ctp for one night isn't so bad

No u Just because some people are complaining doesn't mean they should be listened to. The loudest voice isn't always the best voice. Despite the complaints the server is doing well. People complaining that the server is becoming too 'deathmatchy' should take a step back and think about what they and the other regulars can do to push back against that culture. What do you want us to do? Make a rule that says T's aren't allowed to rebel before x time lol? I'm not sure what you don't understand about doing things the 'steam-gamers' way either. What's the point in submitting to the pressure from new regs that come and suggest things be exactly like their old server? They left x jailbreak server for a reason who's to say that they won't turn around and be dissatisfied with ours at that point? I appreciate the feedback but I think that the server is doing well for itself at this point and the changes we have in the works will continue to improve the experience without becoming just like every other jailbreak server.

Most of it comes down to playerbase in my opinion. The new generation doesn't value the same things as my generation or the generation before. I think part of the reason jailbreak feels so cancer at the moment is the mentality of these new CTs to be honest. It feels like every time I've joined the server over the last year and a half it's been a bunch of squeaky try hards when in reality the CTs main function on the server is to provide entertainment through creative orders, not say 'go to x. Crouch walk the whole way' or some other cancer crap order. In addition to that; I think that the way some of the newer T's play is absolutely soul sucking. Don't be afraid to rebel or volunteer for suicide death games like skeet shooting. Return the server to its roots of spontaneous fun and ridiculous moments based on organic situational humor and we'll be golden. Unfortunately with how sweaty some of these children and teens alike are we're probably better off playing the lottery at this point. Something else I'd like to bring up is the slow creep towards being like every other server. Obviously as an AT I'm in position to make change on that front and will be more vocal about some issues I've seen over the last year or so. We're committed to making the server great but we can only do so much. We need regs and admins a like to reset the culture on the server or all you'll see is a slow slide towards being the next tango or who the fuck ever.

Slaying is not required but is the honorable thing to do depending on the situation.
