I really didn't understand, i had few days net down and i couldn't open steam bc "searching for updates" you mean that kind or what?

if you leave it searching for updates, eventuallly it should come back saying, no connection found, start in offline mode

Its saying that to open up steam i must be online.....i dont and might not have internet for awhile

You should be able to set to offline mode when you "try to log on".

It gives me an error saying that i have to start steam online and cant do start in offline mode

Do you have your steam password saved? If you don't it won't let you start in offline mode.

If you log onto steam with a different computer, it will make you log on again on the first computer. I used to have this problem. When I was at home, I would play on my desktop, but if I was traveling, I would have to have to connect to the internet before it would allow me to play on my laptop.
