feedback on new 360 update

I'm always open for free updates. If this was Apple, they woud charge... though it's annoying when random people you don't know join your party chat. I really couldn't care less about the Avatars.

Lol, I just HAVE TO SAY THIS!

 

1) XBL update=New windows vista?

 

2) There is really nothing wrong with it imo, its been out for less than a week, give it a damn chance ffs. Its pretty user friendly, I mean its not like substitute teaching for retarted kids.

 

3) The party system kicks ass. I don't have to jump in and out of private chats with people, and I can talk to my friends playing other games.

 

4) Avatars, something which is a blatant ripoff of the Mii's as Sol said. Cept Mii's don't get to wear metal shirts, or jeans, or have limbs for that matter. In my opinion, it's not there to kill hardcore gamers, its there if you want to use it, but it's designed for little kids who enjoy the idea of a Mii, but want to get a bit more in-depth.

2. i disagree, i dont think it is user friendly. i think the original version is a lot more user friendly.

 

3. the party system is the coolest feature of the update. easily.

 

4. yea i can see where you're coming from, but they should also make it optional.

 

but please dont get me wrong, like havok and solanium did. IT IS NOT BECAUSE IT'S NEW THAT I DON'T LIKE IT. i actually was really excited for it and thought it was the greatest thing ever before it came out, i was really disapointed.

 

my biggest issue with it, and many people will agree with me on this, i liked in the old version how everything was set up in front of you, ex. if you went in the media center, every option was set on the screen. as opposed to the new one where one option takes up the entire screen. i really don't like that.

 

oh, something else i just noticed...whats the point now in having a background image? lol you can only see about 1/3 of it.

 

and yes, apple would have charged you out the ass for it.

I'm liking the New Xbox Experience up to now, it's neater and better organised. An update with more avatar clothes would be nice in the future though.

i can post links with people saying they hate it too lmfao. even people in this thread say don't like it.

 

you take what i say and completely flip it against me. all i am saying is IN MY OPINON i think its more diffucult. i do not like it. sure theres cool features, but IN MY OPINION i dont think it's worth it.

Well, I have tried it out for a little over a day now and it is a bit different from the original way. It's not bad, but it isn't a huge improvement either IMO. The new menu offers more stuff to do while you are in the game, but I really didn't mind having to go to the Dashboard in the first place if I needed to quickly change a setting. I haven't tried out the Netflix thing yet, but I am sure that will be pretty cool.

 

The avatar function is more detailed than on the Wii, but it is obviously just a ripoff of the Mii system. I really don't see the point besides ripping into Nintendo or having a use for it in a later game in the same way in some Wii games.

 

It takes some getting used to, but it is just as easy to use as the older way. It is only different, not worse, and not better. That being said, I don't mind it at all and some of the newer features may come in handy down the road. It is a step in the right direction for Microsoft.

lol i am really not trying to argue with you, it just pissed me off when you accused me of not liking it because it was new. sure, i'll admit i didn't give it that much time. but even to right now i still have the same exact opinion. it has nothing to do with the fact it was new, like i stated above, i was very excited for it and was hoping for the best.

I have a ps3 and a 360. Simply put, you will like whichever console meets your needs better. I myself prefer the 360 for my gaming needs and only buy ps3 exclusives for my ps3. This is because most of my friends play on 360 and I find the online services of Live to blow PSN away, though I do think they should drop the price for live. As far as this update goes, I love it. I haven't run into any reason not to like it imo. It's more sleek, more organized, and honestly less complex. The only thing they could have done without are the mii clones, but they aren't terrible either.

Exactly my opinion as well on the two consoles. I would only buy the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player first, and a gaming console second. I wouldn't buy a console just so I could play a game or two, but I would if I'd use it mostly as a Blu-Ray player.

 

I'd like to see the Live price drop, but $50 for 13 months is still pretty good, especially if you are a person who is online all the time.
