zippo Posted December 17, 2008 Content Count: 92 Joined: 08/24/08 Status: Offline Share Posted December 17, 2008 Ohio State Representative Tyrone Yates has proposed a bill today that would prohibit the ownership of pit bulls in the state of Ohio. The bill requires all owners to surrender their "pit bulls" within 90 days of the effective date of the proposed law. The bill is unequivocal that the dog warden "shall" euthanize all pit bulls within 10 days of their surrender. Also under this proposal a dog warden or other officer who has probable cause to believe that a dog is a pit bull dog, may apply for a search warrant. With the search warrant the officer will have the authority to seize the pit bull dog and surrender it to the dog warden to be killed. Under current Ohio law a vicious dog is defined to include pit bulls regardless of their temperament or behavior, but there is no statewide prohibition on owning and keeping these dogs. The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld Ohio's current law. Click here for more on that. A bill pending in the Ohio legislature, H.B. 366, would repeal the state law that defines vicious dog to include pit bulls. I have 2 Pitbulls and I think this is just wrong. there not mean there nice friendly and family pets only time they ever attacked someone is when a old neighbor punshed me in the face and he was in my backyard and I being stupid yelled For them and they knocked him down and just growled in his face. They were trained to hold them there not attack unless they try to escape. These are my Dogs Stormy on left and Bruiser on Right Link to comment

If a dog goes and attacks somebody, then it is the owner's fault, not the dog's. If this wacko is worried about the safety of Ohio, then he should be asking for the euthanization of the stupid owners and possibly himself for his fucktard logic. Link to comment

I love dogs myself........grown up with them...always used to visit my grandma to walk them and play (crossbreeds of greyhound and something) and they died last year, but they got a labrador and its definitely...."fiesty". Calmed down slightly now...not dangerous in any way, just young and playful, but that does involve the scratch or ten.. Its all about training the dogs. In some cases dog breeds are far more dangerous naturally then others, so you need to be a good dog trainer or you end up reading of how children die from maul attacks...... I think some sort of law or license has to be there for these kinds of dogs. If you want to own one, you should have to prove that you are responsible enough.
