Researchers are beginning to ask whether the make-believe world projected in "rom-coms" might actually be preventing true love in real life.

 

For a long time it's seemed to me that romantic movies and books are just more socially acceptable porn for women. Just like sex porn it provides bad models for real life behavior. Sure, most people can distinguish fantasy from reality but it's insidious in a way. I have the same kind of visceral reaction to seeing romantic porn as some women have to seeing sex porn.

 

It really does bug me that women's porn is socially acceptable. Seems like a double standard.
