Useful password recovery tool

So I forgot my password.

 

So long story short after taking Astrum's advice I dowloaded a Linux client http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=1&front_id=12

 

and it worked fast. I reset my passwords in less than 2 minutes. The tool works on 2000/XP/Vista.

 

Damn, never knew it was that easy to bypass a password that easily.

This might come in handy at work where we have 139723098534 different usernames/passwords that keep changing.

Im lost with this a little, does it work for any password for any site?

So in detail what does this tool does? For us slackers who don't want to click on video or research it ourselves :-P. (I think astrum told me about this once but I don't remember)

In about as simple terms as possible..

 

It allows you to re-write the password file for Windows XP/2000

 

You boot from a linux based CD. And then either blank out or replace the password for the user you select. If someone forgets the Administrator password for a system this becomes very useful.

Ah...I dunno if I'd have use for that here on my home PC....I know they wouldn't like it at work.

If they know what they are doing at your work your machine has a BIOS password to prevent you from booting from CD..

 

(that's not to say there aren't ways around that, but you've really got to want it)

Oh that is the truth. Got to love those BIOS configs.

And if you really want to keep files safe, there are much better methods of protecting them, encryption for instance.
