Racist Inaugural Prayer/Speech

Reagan was the first one to return salutes I think. This means Eisenhower didn't return them when he was president, nor did anyone else (or possibly most if I am missing someone). Were all those presidents disrespectful? Not in the least. Some people think that saluting insinuates that you are in the military and some people do not want a president pretending to be a military man when they clearly aren't.

 

People freaked out for a while when Reagan did it (and some didn't even like the technique of the salute), but personally, I don't care if a president does or doesn't salute. The soldier doesn't feel miffed either. His orders are to salute until the president passes or if the president returns the salute. If he did either, somebody would complain about it in some way. My personal opinion is that Obama is getting used to being president at the white house. He has saluted before in Hawaii at the Marine Corps base, so I don't think it isn't a lack of respect.

 

Once he gets familiar with things, he can relax a bit and give a good salute. I am sure a bunch of veterans don't want to see any crappy salutes or people presuming they are military grade right away.

 

Not too sure about the presidents in-between, but I do know that now it is a sign of respect. Both Bushes' did too, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe he didn't notice, maybe he was too caught in the moment, or maybe he just didn't know. I was around a bunch of veterans though at the time, and all said "What the fuck is up with that?" He's considered the highest in command, and is supposed to salute back.

 

I hope it was just one of the reasons above though, and that he purposefully didn't salute back.

wow YOU need to read properly because im not just talking about obama or the guy in this speech either, im saying WHITE PEOPLE dont let other minorities JUST SHIT ON THEM, your not american so maybe YOU wouldnt see it here in LA.

 

Firstly, no offence to you, but you said you are only half white. Don't know what else you are, but it makes a difference, e.g Obama is half black, but everyone sees him as a black person. In general, I think this goes for most races other than whites, unless there is no visual difference. Does it make a difference??? Ofcourse, because you probably don't get the same kinda stuff that I do. 5 miles north of where I live, and its pretty much white, and I wouldn't of got any of the stuff I get now. If you live around people of all races, and you have to think about what you say all the time to stop getting your face kicked in, then you will understand.

 

Maybe LA is the place of all peace and equality, but is LA the world? Do you even understand what I mean by "just shitting on them"? I live in one of the most diverse places in the world, I think I know what I'm talking about, and its not just me being bias, most of the people of different races know and taunt us about how we let everything slip.
