LegalSmash Posted February 9, 2009 Content Count: 2936 Joined: 02/04/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 9, 2009 This will be brief, as I'm busy but I noticed that in the past week, we have lost the chatbox AND the visitor messages. While I railed against the loss of rep, and I reiterate my protests against the loss of visitor messages and chatbox, I have to ask, why is this happening? We are losing privileges due to a combination of administrative elementary school style sanctions to deal with problems, as well as completely overcoddled new users and oversensitive users that QQ at first instance in all cases. I know that I am not the only one who is tired of this. I ask the AOs and BDs to reestablish these features asap, because it makes the site enjoyable. Regarding people QQing. I'd really like to see the day that people on this site, and in the internet in general realize that this is the internet, and acting like a retard will likely get you a strong rebuke by others who disagree with what you say. Internet offers anonymity in addition to open forum, and the combination of the who can lead to some explosive situations. This being said please note: 1. You CAN say what you want, limited by rules of a site, but don't get all QQ and butthurt when people think you are a sick fuck or a moron for saying something. Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to say nothing at all if you can't think of something nice bc the matter discussed openly and publicly is deviant, stupid or otherwise inimical to your own views. YOU decided to bring it up, YOU defend your point, or go home. Life isn't the special Olympics and not everyone is a winner. 2. Not all negative rep and bad reaction to you is a diabolical plot to lower your rep or insult you, it may just be that you are a socially awkward retard that but for modern medicine would be dead in some dumpster due to inhaling your drinking water. Its not always that people are against you, sometimes its JUST you. That sucks, but much how people learn to adapt and adjust their behavior in the real world IRL, you should do so on the net if you know that a sizeable portion of a site dislikes your previous behavior. Running to an admin every time someone calls you out for being an oversensitive socially inept buffoon is pointless. Learn to deal with it, life sucks, get a helmet... and stop spamming useless fucking threads. 3. Regarding visitor messages, if you are old enough to use a computer you should be old enough to understand what the term work safe is. Remember that you are posting on a person's profile, and they don't have the means of blocking said message until they have been notified of it and looked at it. If you have a problem with someone just tell them, don't act like a bitch and leave some improper message because you have neither the balls nor the grammar skills to write a cogent PM and let them know what you think. 4. Finally, administration, don't be quick to disable a feature because of a "few" bad users. If you know who that user is, forum ban his/her ass, and life goes on. There are a great deal of us that are rule abiding, NORMAL visitors and site members, and removing features to correct 1-50 people's douchebaggery is an excessive and inappropriate measure considering the total population of the forum. My advice to you is to find what Vbulletin stuff was used to identify rep givers, find a better chat and V-message app, reinstall it, take a copy/image or whatever, so we can restore next time we get hacked by a random gaza sympathizer, and lets move on with our lives. This being said, I move for the following issues to be put on a PM discussion only due to its inflammatory effect upon the sites users: 1. Any fur subjects, anthromorphic human/animal etc. Threads and chat discussions, with harassing discussions (constant use of animal barks, etc directed at users who find this disturbing) resulting in ban for day if offender is insistent. 2. open declarations of sexuality/bestiality preferences, period. 3. drug uses in NSFW threads 4. ban appeals anywhere outside of ban appeal forum board, one warning for users that ask about it in chatbox, and immediate ban on forum for failure to cease and desist communication re ban in chatbox. 5. Zero tolerance policy for inappropriate, offensive, or harassing visitor messages, forum bans issues for breaking this policy on first offense. 6. Removal of admin for retaliatory use of infraction by admins and other players on forum for nonlegitimate reasons (i.e. I'm mad that you don't agree, or tolerate my deviances). 7. Admins actually be held to the standard of admins, which is a higher standard than regs and HGs, and that they be held accountable for their actions in forum, as well as in game. Those are my seven cents. Link to comment

Itch Posted February 9, 2009 Content Count: 3440 Joined: 12/12/07 Status: Offline Share Posted February 9, 2009 My understanding of this was that it is a temporary outage of the features that you mentioned. At least until they can be properly locked down/secured. Although I do want the Arcade & Casino to come back as well. Link to comment
Lux Posted February 9, 2009 Content Count: 6712 Joined: 03/06/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 9, 2009 I'd thank but it seems that feature has gone. I will say QFT to most of what you're saying but I think that some newer people need to be given some slack. Its all good us laughing/being angry at the idiots, but when I look back I was probably one of them when I first came on. If you aren't going to give constructive stuff, its better to say nothing at all. I don't see why flame through visitor messages would be less tolerant than in a pm. You're still flaming them, I think in most cases if you have a problem and you want to tell them do it in private, but be mature about it. Link to comment

Frostbyte Posted February 9, 2009 Content Count: 2750 Joined: 07/17/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 9, 2009 I dont know why they call it common sense. Its rare amongst most people. Anyway, I agree, if your being an idiot, or in some people's case are an idiot by default, you deserve negative rep. Link to comment
