LegalSmash Posted February 28, 2009 Content Count: 2936 Joined: 02/04/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 28, 2009 Hey guys: Calling anyone who has a dog/has knowledge of dogs. Please keep responses limited to the issue expressed here, I'd greatly appreciate it. My dog was vomiting this morning when she went outside, over the past two days she has been a little slow on the pooping, but the GF says that today the dog regulating, by pooping quite a bit. My dog this morning, after pooping vomited 2x in the grass, her stomach did some jumping afterwards, which I can only characterize as dry heaving. She seems to have calmed down for the moment, and has eaten a regular meal thus far, but we are monitoring her in case of possible necessity of a vet intervention. Last week we brought her some rib bones from TGIF from a baby back rib platter, which she had periodically for treats during the day. She generally eats her dog food, milkbone treats, and the occasional piece of lunch meat. We try to keep her away from human food. Please advise regarding what this might be, I haven't had a dog since I was a child, and naturally, I'm a bit hyper-vigilant as to her health. Thanks in advance guys. **Again, I respectfully request that the answers are kept related to the dog, this is a really tenuous issue, and I will seek punitive action if thread hijack is attempted. ** Link to comment

If she doesn't quickly take her to the vet, obviously. In the past, I've fed some rib bones from Chili's, Applebee's, etc. They'll get sick for 2-10 days and get better. Or worse. Either way. Have hope, dogs heal quickly if it's not toxic Link to comment
Repus Posted February 28, 2009 Content Count: 1802 Joined: 04/05/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 28, 2009 I believe its gone in few days. If the dog starts vomiting blood then its bad, like my old dog did before she died. (I was so young and still I don't know what happened to her.) Link to comment
LegalSmash Posted February 28, 2009 Content Count: 2936 Joined: 02/04/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 28, 2009 She is 2 years old last week, she is relatively very healthy otherwise, full of energy and curiosity. My Gf tells me that there was no blood, it was white, and included some chunks of undigested dog kibble (the little food bits), and what appeared to be bile. She finally started crapping normally again, the last three days she was suffering from a softer, more liquid poop, but it seems to have gone today. She received the bones as a consolation prize, as I had to take a long trip away, and she'd have to be in her box rather than sleeping next to me as I pounded bar review books. She also acted up last week and this week when she was left alone, tearing up the bathroom a little bit and apparently forgetting her housebreaking training when shes alone. I really appreciate it guys. BTW, I'll be back 3/13 on the comp. Link to comment

You should really avoid to giving bones to smaller dog! My golden retriever never had a problem but every time you do that your just gambling and hoping she'll be fine..Im suspecting this because it doesnt go away and she is still eating and stuff and seem to be ok..I would call the vet first to see what he has to say! He will have to answer some question before he makes you come in, those answer might help! But when I doubt bring her there..better be safe than sorry! Link to comment
Target Posted February 28, 2009 Content Count: 400 Joined: 04/18/08 Status: Offline Share Posted February 28, 2009 The ribs have nothing to do with it. If your dog vomits after pooping she is eating grass. Make sure she stops eating grass. Link to comment

Smaller dogs from what I have seen with my aunts poodles tend to have episodes like this, and usually get over it. If it continues, or if you see an increase in lethargy, problems walking or staying balanced, go see a vet. Link to comment
