Huwajux Posted March 1, 2009 Content Count: 4198 Joined: 03/23/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 1, 2009 This is an annoying problem that I had once. Sometimes I would have a perfectly normal ping of around 115 (Since I am from Britain), and then it would suddenly shoot up to 300+ and would lag the crap out of me. It doesn't happen anymore so perhaps it is just a temporary issue that will sort itself out. Sorry I couldn't help you anymore in that respect. My high score was a ping of 927 (The servers had been rebuilt so there was no auto-kick at the time). Afterwards it just shot back down almost as fast as it went up. Link to comment

Demented Posted March 2, 2009 Content Count: 750 Joined: 02/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted March 2, 2009 Highest ping i have ever gotten was 978, the max I was on Youtube. But if that happens it means 2 things. Other programs that use high percentage of CPU lagg you up and lagg you. So try to have as many as little programs on your CPU running. That's what I do. If this keeps happening RESTART your computer and Your MODEM/Router. Good Luck! ~Regards, Alex [Eskizofrenic] Link to comment
Maxwelldon Posted March 2, 2009 Content Count: 1730 Joined: 02/15/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 2, 2009 SG has two dedicated servers which have difference of around 25-50 in ping due to the distance difference from Europe. Other things that can be affecting your ping is your rate settings, router or ISP (Internet Service Provider). Usually I've preferred people use this type of settings when ever they were complainin of lagginess or ping bouncing around a lot;cl_cmdrate "46" cl_interp "0.01" cl_interpolate "1" cl_lagcomp_errorcheck "1" cl_lagcompensation "1" cl_updaterate "40" rate "23000" cl_forcepreload "1" Even I myself have those in my "autoexec.cfg" but I swap the CMD and Update rate when I play bhop ^^ I'm having my ping pretty stable with 5-20 change in it on long run at the moment but due crappy ISP I get lag spikes. 2 Link to comment
