Arrogant to say that our life is the only 'intelligent' life.

 

There could be more intelligent life out there that we cannot communicate with due to them being far more advanced and intelligent.

 

Oh I totally agree, I'd find it more plausable that we end up in contact with self-replicating machines instead of anything organic. Mainly due to the vast distances of space the nearest star would take hundresds of years for our fastest space craft to reach.

We scan for radio signals from the other side of the Moon, but just because there will be other civilisations who no longer use radio signals doesn't mean there won't be any who still do or will do by the time ours get there or theirs gets to us.

 

And any comments like "we're alone in the universe" or "we're the best" are just simply wrong. I'm not even going to go into those.

This is still assuming any other civilization out there evolved the exact same way we did. Advanced does not always mean they had the same prerequisite.

 

Did no one watch Titan A.E?
