I was wondering if anyone here is in the military, is considering it, or is signed up and going.

I'm joining the Army National Guard at the end of the year, my MOS will be Military Policing.

This post isn't for people who hate the military, this is for those who are planning on moving into it or just have plain old respect for it.

I enlist in the Air National Guard next friday. My MOS will be Munitions Systems. I'm being told that I'll be shipped off to BASIC around October. What base are you stationed in?

I'm planning on joining the Canadian Forces as an Infantry Officer but sometimes I feel I'm just not really up to it. If I was an American citizen I'd totally enlist for the Marine Corps though, if not Army just to get up to the Rangers. At the moment CSIS is on my list under an Intelligence Officer, but I'm not that too organized :p

I really don't like the fact that you're trained like hell, then have to wait a while before actually put in field unless the Country is currently at war.

I guess the Military is my blood though. My Grandfather (I don't know many others who were too) who I never knew was part of the Airforce as a Lieutenant so my family says...

I'm following family tradition. All of my family are veterans and alive excpt for one (MSgt, USAF, Grandpa died 1996). Even Aunts as nurses or logistics.

'Am in something similar to JROTC (particularly AFJROTC) called Civil Air Patrol :usa2:

With the training in CAP and my personal capabilities, I am planning to either go in as a:

  • USAF Intelligence Officer
  • USArmy Intelligence or Infantry Officer
  • USN Intelligence or JAG
  • USMC Infantry Officer
  • If all else fails, use CAP for E-4 Enlistment in USArmy or USAF

Yeah, I've yet to decide which branch I want as each has its benefits. But what I can say, proudly, is that I am currently qualified for all three service academies (besides that I need to graduate from High School and get a congressman's "approval" ).

I'll be leaving September to Fort Sill, OK for basic, not sure where my MOS is yet. I'm not stationed at a base, the National Guard isn't like the army, we only train 1 weekend per month, and 2 weeks in summer and can be called upon to active duty

You know you don't have to be a citizen to enlist right? If you come over here, clean record, and legally, you can enlist, and in that process gain US citizenship.

You'd basically do everything that immigrants in this country SHOULD do to make their stay worth people's while nowadays.
