Simon [I R JAWZ] Posted May 1, 2009 Content Count: 170 Joined: 02/15/09 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2009 The 2012 Doomsday prediction is a present-day cultural meme proposing that cataclysmic and apocalyptic events will occur in the year 2012. This idea has been disseminated by numerous books, internet sites and by TV documentaries. The forecast is based primarily on what is claimed to be the end-date of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, which is presented as lasting 5,125 years and as terminating on December 21, 2012, and incorporates warnings from climate experts and other environmental scientists that the Earth has reached a tipping point that could generate mass extinctions, as well as interpretations of assorted legends, scriptures and prophecies. A New Age interpretation of this transition posits that, during this time, the planet and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation rather than an armageddon. Historian Richard G. Kyle notes that predictions of the imminent end of the world have a very long history, with hundreds of documented examples, some associated with religious prophecies, others with astronomical events such as comets or eclipses, and others with calendar events such as the millennium. awwww just before christmas but, who belives this?+ Link to comment

If you believe the end of the world is coming do us a favor and go join a goddamn commune in Eastern Siberia and go build a giant bunker and drink some special punch in it. This thread has to have been made atleast 5 times by now. Link to comment

ReGIONALS Posted May 1, 2009 Content Count: 1844 Joined: 07/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2009 i believe it will happen. the theory is the there will be so much more solar activity and gasous explosions on the sun and its all being pushed through our atmosphere causing more weather activity and furthermore much worse storms. in 2005 there was alot more solar activity and solar rays being pushed through our atmosphere making hurricane katrina a cat. 5 hurricane the more solar activity the earth is exposed to makes a greater effect on earth normal cycle. is in the book apocolypse 2012. there is another thing ive heard about the manetic poles changing positions and causing our electronicd products to shutdown. and the mayan calender ends on december 21 2012.... its in the book and there is alot of science to back all of this up. BOOWY Posted May 1, 2009 Content Count: 868 Joined: 04/30/08 Status: Offline Share Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) 2012 is sensationalism at it's best. Even the experts aren't sure if the Mayan calender ends on 2012... so potentially we've had many Doomsday... days, pass us by. Some believe it ends, some believe it resets, some believe there are more digits in the calender. Why wouldn't the calender just reset itself like every other calender?
