Yes. Its because those books allow for a few weeks worth of "Read chapter, answer questions" kind of work instead of learning grammar. I for one think its a bit more benefical to learn grammar, because quoting Shakespeare really wont get you anywhere, except for you aspiring English teachers out there. But, on some instances, I enjoyed the assigned books.
