BORN A REBEL Posted August 10, 2009 Content Count: 451 Joined: 06/23/09 Status: Offline Share Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) so as you can see i want to upgrade my laptop so it can play gears of war, cod4, gta4 on the highest quality or atleast pretty close to it and i want your recomendations on what i should get upgraded i have a budget up to $500, so i want something powerful yet affordable. Here is my laptop spec Optical Drive 8X DVD+/-R/RW Processor Speed 2 GHz Processor Type Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 RAM 4GB video memory Ati Readon HD 256 mb is there also a way to increase my 2 GHz. ( but i'am still mainly looking for a graphics card and Ram upgrade) I might also buy a internal Bule Ray drive so i can watch blue ray movies, but it says i need 3.2 GHz and i only have 2 GHz but i have the rest of the requiriments plus more, so if i get a blue ray drive on my pc is it gonna still work fine on 2 GHz or no. tinkerbell Posted August 11, 2009 Content Count: 1662 Joined: 05/16/07 Status: Offline Share Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) up grading laptops is like getting blood out of a stone, all you can really do to upgrade a laptop is get a faster HDD (solid state) and increase the amount of RAM. upgrading anything else is a pain in the arse and really complicated. as for getting a blu ray drive, your 2GHz processor isnt fast enough, even though it has 2 cores its the frequency that it needs to process the video decoding for it to run smoothly if you want to upgrade your gfx/processor, you really need to take it to a speciallist... which will cost money. if you really want better performance in games and BluRay. you should think about getting a new laptop, you can get one that will do everything you want for $700 - $900. Save your money EDIT: overclocking a laptop by big amount is NOT ADVISED. too much heat will be generated Edited August 11, 2009 by tinkerbell Link to comment
