CollieFlower Posted August 16, 2009 Content Count: 1406 Joined: 09/25/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) i have been thinking about switching my laptop to run linux. only thing is, i dont know if it ill support steam, css, or vent. im tired of vista and want sometime new but dont have the cash to buy a mac or get a better gaming rig. this is the only computer i have so having steam and vent is a must. would i be able to use linux and still be able to use steam, itunes, and vent using hack like programs to mae them work? help plox. -Longwave Edited August 16, 2009 by CollieFlower Link to comment

tinkerbell Posted August 17, 2009 Content Count: 1662 Joined: 05/16/07 Status: Offline Share Posted August 17, 2009 linux can run programs that windows can run with the help of a program called "wine" to tell you the truth linux is now worth it. if u want to game at all u basically have to stick with windows. the only problem you have wine such programs as "wine" is that it is an emulator. so basically you will be running 2 x OS's at once then on top of that you will have the demands of a gmes and all of windows background processors on top of the linux based OS you plan to run, you will need a shit load of processing power+ram+gfx for the game to run as smoth as you want it to. i would say any linux based OS is good, but absolutly shite for gaming, if you want to stick to gaming, go xp or Windows 7 Link to comment
