Akaru Posted August 23, 2009 Content Count: 1000 Joined: 06/12/09 Status: Offline Share Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Looks around Newegg for deals and I found that the ASUS Rampage Extreme LGA 775 Intel X48 and the GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel X48 had a deal with the Q9550. The total price after rebate for the deal is $315 for ASUS and Q9550, which is cheaper than the Q9550 + GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel X48, which costs $355. Is the ASUS better than the Gigabyte? Setup with ASUS X48 Setup with Gigabyte X48 In all 3 of them, the rebates are not included into the total. The prices with rebate are respectively, $648.94, $641.94, $656.95. I think those are correct costs. I was rushing through the calculations. Link to comment

Haha. You are right. I'll tell him when he gets back from CA tonight! :O I think I am going to tell him to go with the ASUS X48, since the X48 was made for gaming and this is also the cheapest one. Shadowex3 Posted August 24, 2009 Content Count: 2959 Joined: 02/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 24, 2009 Asus is in general better mobos for enthusiast/gaming use than gigabyte due to better on-board cooling and power workings, and dude pay the extra $20 get a corsair or seasonic PSU. The 550 (with some 40+amps on the 12v rail!) ought to be more than enough. Link to comment

But then again, the rating system is not trustable and I have no experience with either company. I only know that Gigabyte is used in overclocking competitions, so I know it is reliable. And the power supply, I think the one I have is good. My friend is computer retarded. He won't be overclocking and utilizing those extra amps. As long as I meet the minimum requirement for ampere on each, that is enough. Link to comment
