Shadowex3 Posted August 24, 2009 Content Count: 2959 Joined: 02/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 24, 2009 ASUS seems to have really bad ratings on Newegg. Gigabyte gets way better ratings. But then again, the rating system is not trustable and I have no experience with either company. I only know that Gigabyte is used in overclocking competitions, so I know it is reliable. And the power supply, I think the one I have is good. My friend is computer retarded. He won't be overclocking and utilizing those extra amps. As long as I meet the minimum requirement for ampere on each, that is enough. It's not just about that, corsairs are just plain better in empirical testing. If you absolutely must get a OCZ or some other off-brand try and get one that jonnyguru.com recommends with an 8 or higher because corsairs/seasonics/pc p&p's are at least that good. Also Asus gets rated low on newegg, true, but so far their P45's were pretty much the biggest choice at OCforums for c2d builds before X48 and the like came out. 8 phase power and vdroop counters will do good things for your mobo, plus like I said they've got better cooling. Gigabyte's not bad but if you can get better within your budget why get worse? Link to comment
Caution Posted August 24, 2009 Content Count: 11501 Joined: 10/19/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 24, 2009 Make sure you touch a metal surface before you touch anything, that way the static electricity is gone. Somebody I know just fried their motherboard that way. Link to comment

And seriously. when was the last time anyone made a review on newegg that wasn't because it was a bad experience? I'm glad SOME people put good reviews, but seriously, most people only do it to complain. In my experience (which is alot, at least with asus), they make rock solid equipment and computers. Shadowex3 Posted August 24, 2009 Content Count: 2959 Joined: 02/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 24, 2009 Gigabyte makes good simple boards. Asus has all the enthusiast and gaming features like much better heatsinks for the important bits, vdroop countering ("load line calibration"), 8+phase power, automatically fixing botched overclocks and their Qfan stuff. Plus they all come with this little thingy you plug your case's front panel stuff onto that is LABELLED CLEARLY and then that slides onto the mobo as one big block. SO much easier than plugging in those damned wires by hand. Link to comment
