My laptop can't defrag itself

For some odd reason I go through the Control Panel settings and it tells me I can't defrag. Anyone wanna let me know as to why? Perhaps just from a year of abuse and a couple months in Iraq?

you can try compressing some of your files to free up space if you are not in a position to get an external hdd, that being said you might try to track down an old copy of executive softwares diskkeeper, or the trial anyway It would defrag as much as it could regardless of space and wasnt much more of a load on the system tehn standard win defragging.

yes compressing does free upsome space but not that much, and if it is files that you access alot, you will see a significant performance drop if you compress those files. do what was suggested, get an external hdd and keep you music/films/photos on the hdd and keep your internal nice and clean with all your games and stuff

 

a hdd + enclosure cost for a 160Gb ~ £30/$50 maybe less
