In some subjects depending on the test you take the highest mark you can achieve is a C. Okay, that would make sense then. Here in the States, the highest you can get is an A...and all C's is NOT considered good at all. Silly how different countries do things the same things differently. Link to comment

Spartan Posted August 27, 2009 Content Count: 4550 Joined: 06/05/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 27, 2009 Fail. A is the best grade. The papers are split into Higher, intermediate and foundation papers depending on your intelligence level. Higher can let u get A but is harder. Intermediate can get u B and is easier and foundation can get u C at the highest but is the easiest paper. Anything below a C is not good enough. Link to comment

Lux Posted August 27, 2009 Content Count: 6712 Joined: 03/06/08 Status: Offline Share Posted August 27, 2009 To any Americans wondering if these grades are good..... They aren't C is the average grade apparently but when it comes down to it if you don't get a B or higher then you won't be following the subject up in A levels, but for lower courses a D or E is fine. You will most likely get accepted into college with those grades, but you will be lucky to get accepted for any harder subjects (i.e. no maths, science...) Still well done on not failing completely....but that C/D in English is pretty poor but good luck anyway. Link to comment

What some people are referring to with the "You can only get a C grade" is that these exams are for "lesser students" who aren't expected to get any higher then a C and whilst in a Higher test if you don't get a C then you fail in this paper you have a D or E grade to fall back on if you don't get the C grade. But still.....a C is a C and it's not that good. Link to comment
