Lefty Posted September 1, 2009 Content Count: 856 Joined: 03/08/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 1, 2009 Ever since i've switched to Wireless, i get these random spikes of lags and my ping goes up to 400 ping then goes back down and it can get annoying. I have 3 other computers that are wireless as well. What is the problem? Link to comment https://forums.steam-gamers.net/topic/21644-my-internet/

Red Posted September 1, 2009 Content Count: 6559 Joined: 03/14/07 Status: Offline Share Posted September 1, 2009 I had the same problem, I have new roommates that are heavy internet users and my wireless would lag REALLY REALLY bad. I bought a cat5 cable just the other week and the crazy spikes are gone. Now if anything I just get higher ping in game when they're downloading/uploading porn, but at least I'm not dropping my connection for a few seconds at a time. Plus I just throttled the wireless connection to 1mbit/sec connection, bitches. If you have other computers on the network then wireless is NOT the way to go, it simply requires a smooth constant flow of packets and having other computers sharing the wireless connection overloads the router, there's only so much a wireless router can do at one time, get a cable instead for your gaming computer. Also limit the transmit speed of the wireless so that they don't suck up as much bandwidth. Link to comment https://forums.steam-gamers.net/topic/21644-my-internet/#findComment-249702

I removed the cable box cause i closed my door on the wire so now its fucked up and i used to get poor connection and my dad spent 40$ on a Wireless adapter for me Link to comment https://forums.steam-gamers.net/topic/21644-my-internet/#findComment-249777
