With the releases of both the GT300 (NVIDIA) and RV870 (ATI) ever so close, I think it would be appropriate to have a discussion on who you think will win.

So, who do you think will come out on top? Will NVIDIA break its cycle of rebranding and come out on top or will ATI take the crown? Most importantly, who do you think you will be buying from in the near future? That is, if you plan to at all?

Please, no bashing others and their choices, let's just have a civilized discussion.

NVIDIA on the 'buying in the near future' thing. I've been using ATI cards for a few years and will not go back. My 9800XT is artifact hell and the stock fan on my X1300 failed a few months ago.

Hopefully I'll get my hands on two GT300s when the time is right.

Wrong vote. I meant to click NVIDIA!

Nvidia's rebranding actually benefits its customers. Everytime they rebrand, the product gets cheaper than the product it replaces.

I've had NVIDIA cards ever since I got my computer. My cousin has 2 1gb ATI (Idk what they are) graphics cards and it is almost like real life. It is just simply insane. I think im going to go with ATI

ati all the way

i love my ati 4870x2 which is $100 less than the gtx295 and still have a core clock of 750mhz stock when a 295 has a stock highest clock of 675mhz

ati 4870x2 has 2gb of memory

gtx295 has 1792 mb of memory

ati 4870x2 has 1600 stream processors

gtx295 only has 480 stream processors

ati comes out on top in my opinion

where i got my info for each card

Specs don't mean a thing. Even though Nvidia has less stream processors, lower clock speed, and less memory, it is still better. the GTX295 can't be compared to a 4870x2. It's way superior. You can compare a GTX295 to 4870x2 in quad Crossfire though. Then it will compare. Nvidias are just better than ATI in every way. You pay for what you get.

The GTX 285 is comparable to the 4870 x2.

You only saw what Newegg gave you. If you dig deeper, you will see a whole different story.

GTX295:

TDP: 289 Watts

Config core: 2x 240:80:28

Core clock: 2x 576 MHz

Memory clock: 2x 1998 MHz

Memory: 2x 896

Transistors: 2x 1400

Bus Width: 2x 448bit

4870x2:

TDP: 350 Watts

Config core: 2x 800(160x5):40:16

Core clock: 2x 750 MHz

Memory clock: 2x 900 MHz

Memory: 2x 1024

Transistors: 2x 956

Bus width: 2x 256bit

your pretty much saying everything that makes up the card, everything that processes the graphics dont mean a thing,

your saying that its the name that matters

have you ever used an ati card?

but at this point im still going to say ati is a much better direction to go

hmmmm, im really not sure on this one as well, people also forget that it is also dependant on the application it is running, for example, Folding@Home. ATI is pants when it comes to folding while an nvidia card costing say half the price can produce double ppd than the ATI.

so to be honest i think i will sit this one out untill they realese there GPGPU's and come up with some real life benchmarks.

(but secretly im routing for ATI, they have had a shit time in the past 2-3 years. its about time they pulled something out there ass!!!)

If only you knew how to type without so many grammatical errors, we would have something to discuss. My argument is Nvidia GTX 295 is better than ATI 4870 x2 in every way. Your argument is bleh bleh bleh. Please do type better. I didn't understand half of what you just typed in the reply above.

Yes, I have used an ATI card before. And no, I'm not saying the name makes the card. Before buying a card, I do look at a bunch of reviews and compare it to it's competitor. GTX 295 has no competitor. It's the king of all graphics card as of right now.

You are comparing the GTX 295 and 4870 x2. Those 2 are not comparable. The 4870 x2 is comparable to the GTX 285, not the GTX 295.
