Akaru Posted September 8, 2009 Content Count: 1000 Joined: 06/12/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 8, 2009 Well I just installed a 4890, was hoping to get a GTX 295 or 4870x2 but they didn't have any so I got a 1GB from Sapphire (Fagphire). It barely fits my case LOL. I had to move my SATA cables because if I layed my 4890 down they'd probably get knocked out of the port. I have like half an inch of room left. Good thing I calculated and measured my case. If anybody is wondering, this card is beast for 200 bucks. Though most of the GTX 200 series can knock it out, it's great for its price and I wouldn't mind doing crossfire with it when I get a bigger case. I get about 60-80fps average on COD4 with 1600x1200 resolution and about 100 fps average 1600x1200 on CSS. I'm checking out Crysis now. It overclocks great and the box came with free converters (of course) and a Crossfire bridge. Only 100 average on CS:S? I guess ATI is a bad choice for CS:S. Luckily I have an Nvidia. My 8600 GTS gets about 200 average at 1440x900, all high, 8x AA and AF. Link to comment

Also Akaru why not the full 16x AF? Even my 6600gt could handle 16xAF with virtually no perf hit. Link to comment

With AF set to 16x, everything is clear, regardless of distance. This seems really unrealistic to me. And with 16x AA, I don't really notice the difference between 8x and 16x. They look exactly the same to me, so why sacrifice performance for barely any vision gain? Link to comment

As for distance blurring... if the world looks like that to you then you need stronger glasses. Link to comment
