Lol @ people who say you need to upgrade cpu/gpu

my build is a bit worse than yours and i run gta4 on high.

but you could do with 4gb of ram and 64 bit of win7 to top it.

never said he needed to. he asked what we would improve, like as in "what would you do if you had the cash"

Terrible power supply. that should be your first priority even above performance enhancing stuff.

Im glad we agreed on that....I was wondering wtf the others were talking about..

-If you upgrade your CPU and stay with an old 775 that would surely be pointless I think unless you go to an i7 then you are upgrading everything else no choice!

-Your card is good enough to run most things out there

-2 GB or ram is a little low get more and faster if you stay with this system

OC is a possibility I guess ....

actually even with crysis you wont really need more than ~2gb of ram, 3's a bit of a diff mostly for windows reasons. the only reason I use more than 2gb is because I run two monitors with one at 1600x1200 and keep tons of crap going to manage other stuff while ingame.

Honestly a decent psu is not hard to find, newegg's newsletter has had a good solid corsair on sale for less than $90 pretty much every issue for the last ~3 issues (except this most recent one). They're not that expensive and the ~550v one is really all you need for a quadcore gaming computer, especially since corsairs actually CAN deliver every ounce of that 550 volts AND has very little ripple and can give you all your amps without whining too much.

Noname PSUs are just... scary. My pentium4 actually fried it's cpu power plug (4pin) because it was a noname PSU, I had to replace that mobo.

why are people so bent on him getting i7s?

they cost way too much right now and there are $400 cheaper processors than run what they run 2x better.

until i7 gets better optimization its useless.

the 550w psu is just fine, you aren't using all that much, however, if you were to get persay a new GPU/CPU you would want something along the lines of 600ish.

I run;

500w psu

2gb 800

8800gt 512mb

q6600 2.40ghz

and i run everything perfectly, you don't even need to upgrade anything, save up your money and buy a WHOLE new computer in about 2 years or so.

buying new gpus is dumb, you need to wait for dx11

people saying lga 775 socket is old are retarded, lga775 isn't being supported anymore but that doesn't mean it's useless.

Did you seriously just claim that there's a processor that costs NEGATIVE $200, runs twice as good as a core i7, and that a noname power supply is not a problem?

Do you know something about ANYTHING?

he just asked what we would change dude, calm down. and i would NEVER recommend anyone getting a "WHOLE" new computer, unless they're starting from scratch, ie, first time off an OEM computer.

its just a massive waste of time saving up for all of that stuff that will get old in a couple of years.

exactly why changing the CPU would be stupid!!!! Unless you change the whole thing to an i7 system...

Do you know something about anything?
