Well, I am running Windows 7 RC

I backed up a lot of files into 3 flash drives and 1 40GB hard drive. Now my question is: Is it possible for said trojan to infect .rar, .jpg, .png, .doc, .txt, .iso, .vtf, .vmt, .mdl, .bsp, .dem, .avi, etc.? I had a lot of these files on my computer and transferred them over to my flash drive and 40GB hard drive.

Also, I had .exe programs like CPUID, GPU-Z and those other little programs. Can a trojan infect those? If they can, I'n just going to delete them and redownload them straight from the source.

i already said it wont affect basic files. in other words, single file executables and rars/mp3/jpg etc. will not be "infected"

that being said. use another computer that you have access to that doesnt shut down. torrent the windows 7 beta, and get a legit beta key from microsoft (you can still get keys, just not the iso).

That's exactly what I did. I downloaded the official 7 RC from the official microsoft.com site when it was released. I burned it to a DVD and kept it aside for times like this. But for some reason, it won't let me activate it. The key was a new key; one that I obtained yesterday from the microsft.com site.

So even if the trojan was extremely deadly, it won't be able to infect those .rar, .jpg, etc files that was on my flash drives that was connected to the computer?

and no, you aren't reading what i type and its getting kind of annoying. The RC is NOT the beta. the beta is build 7000, the RC is not.

Well, according to the SS, I have Build 7000. But I got my .iso from the below link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/download.aspx

My DVD also says RC on it. I labeled it after I burned it.

you needed to register the key before the 21st of august for the RC edition to last you a year without it shutting down your computer every 2 hours

and shoddow isnt talking about the RC he is on about the BETA, they are 2 different realese's

I think you got the wrong dude tink, I'm the only guy with a name remotely close to shoddow and I only talked about spybot search and destroy and how modern viruses tend to be more towards the hijack-your-comp end of the spectrum than the ruin-your-shit end.
