Shadowex3 Posted September 18, 2009 Content Count: 2959 Joined: 02/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted September 18, 2009 Hm. Yeah it does seem decent. If you would have the time to spare, would you mind making me a list of everything I would need for a computer i.e. what I should get? I might try to get someone to build it together for me then. Case (almost always better to buy local if there isn't free shipping on newegg's newsletter) mobo hdd heatsink+fan (some come with fans, svc's better than newegg) cpu gpu (xfx, evga, or bfg-tech preferrably) ram dvd drive Power supply (corsair, seasonic, or PC power and cooling) that should be about it assuming you already have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor Link to comment
Akaru Posted September 19, 2009 Content Count: 1000 Joined: 06/12/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Premade's obv going to be pretty bad compared to the real thing but Akaru's link seems to be the best. Replace the graphics card with something like a gtx 260/275 and power supply with a corsair 550 if possible. Either way for a premade it's pretty good. Hm. Yeah it does seem decent. If you would have the time to spare, would you mind making me a list of everything I would need for a computer i.e. what I should get? I might try to get someone to build it together for me then. Thanks to both of you for your feedback. I am planning to grab one myself. And yea, like Sahdowex3 and I always say, building it yourself will be so much better and cheaper. The prebuilt I linked earlier can go for like 500 dollars. But prebuilts have one major benefit and this is the warranty. If anything screws up, you can just get it fixed for free (most of the time). jazzy Posted September 19, 2009 Content Count: 2187 Joined: 06/28/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 19, 2009 Heres what you could get: 3GB/4GB of ddr3 ram, 1066mhz would be GREAT Phenom II X3/X4, any type would be good Some mobo that supports ddr3, has pci x16, and supports am3 or am2+ whatever it is called now a gpu made by nvidia is your best bet, good choice is GTS 250 or a geforce 9800GTX+ any western digital caviar (insert color here) is good I don't know any good heatsinks/fans so go newegg it. also you want your psu to be about 550 or so any dvd-rw will work, you dont need to be picky. Akaru Posted September 19, 2009 Content Count: 1000 Joined: 06/12/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 19, 2009 Actually, from what I know, it's: AMD/ATI Intel/ATI Nvidia/Nvidia But ever since the introduction of Core i7, it's slightly Intel/Nvidia & ATI, since SLI is now supported (FINALLY). ONeill Posted September 22, 2009 Content Count: 31 Joined: 08/08/09 Status: Offline Share Posted September 22, 2009 Building it really is the way to go. I went with AMD and managed to turn a dual core into a quad core . Don't bother with an X3, they're just quad cores with a disabled core. Get 64 bit Vista or 7 if you want to utilize all 4 gigs of ram. G-Skill or OCZ for ram and try for DDR3. Do not get XP, finding XP drivers would suck with newer shit. Unless you plan on storing massive amounts of data, a 500 GB hard drive should be good. Xigmatek makes excellent CPU coolers. The Nvidia 200 series is better than the ATI 4800 series, but not by much and ATI is cheaper. You should also know that there is a massive performance difference between a 9800GTX and a GTS 250. Corsair or OCZ for a power supply, try to find one that is core i7 ready in case you want to upgrade later on, but don't go too low in wattage. Antec is always a good case maker. Gigabyte makes awesome motherboards, especially if you want to tweak your processor. I can recommend some good parts if you feel like sending me a PM. Link to comment
