I create a server then my friends said "server not responding". And even if i try to join their created servers it says "server not responding". How can i fix it? Do i need to put a code into console or something to do it? How can i put friends into my created server? Link to comment

That only works with LAN games. If you want an internet game you have to download Counter-Strike:Source Dedicated Server Tool, which is available for free on steam. Use that to host an Internet server. Link to comment

Vigilant Posted October 4, 2009 Content Count: 11 Joined: 10/04/09 Status: Offline Share Posted October 4, 2009 Its most likely that you don't have the right ports open on your router to host the server properly here is the list given on the steam support forums. Steam Client * UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic) * UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV) * TCP 27020 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads) Dedicated or Listen Servers * TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port) Link to comment

Maxwelldon Posted October 10, 2009 Content Count: 1730 Joined: 02/15/08 Status: Offline Share Posted October 10, 2009 One of the most simplest ways to run a self hosted server is to open proper ports for Counter-Strike: Source and start server as you normally do from Console or Create Server button. After that you just simply type in console "sv_lan 0" and you have a server up.. Map download for your servers might be slow this way so most best way for them to see and test map is for you to first upload it to file hosts such as FileBeam or Megaupload. http://portforward.com/ - This site contains instructions for majority of routers around the globe on how to open ports.
