Well what are the suggested brands...I know for LCD tv's samsung and sony are pretty much the only way to go (for a good tv that is) but for monitors they are so many choices I dont know which one to pick..

budget approx $150 ill go a little higher or lower if that is even possible!

Are you deadset on a flatpanel, what size do you want, what resolution do you want. For $150 you're probably getting either a really some MVA/IPS panel or the usual middlesized but mediocre quality TN panels.

Id like it to be wide screen (most of them are), the res. will depend on the size so I want something between 20 and 24 again depending on the price..

I dont know the difference between mva ips and tn but Im reading about it now!

yeah I was looking at them too

I just know that when I was looking for a TV the difference between a 32" 720p and a 32" 1080p samsung LCD would need a super human to discern it yet the price was ridiculously higher on the 1080p which is quite useless at 32" and that was confirmed by most vendors...so bottom line I dont want to spend money for something I dont need !

First time I actually agree with you. Dell makes the best monitors [for the price]. You can get a 21 inch from dell for only 100 dollars if you wait until they have a deal, which is like twice a month. I always get emails from them with coupon codes and monitors for really low price.

If you don't want a Dell, Samsung is the way to go for monitors. They are pretty cheap and really well built. I have one in front of me right now. 19 inch for only 80 dollars.

So here are my two choices...

I can sacrifice 1.5 inch for 50000:1 contrast ration, a 2 ms response time and HDMI port and $20

or go with 23" for $20 bucks cheaper and no hdmi..

Somebody tells me whats they thinks is best...Im not sure..im sort of noob here

get the first one its the exact same thing as what i have and i love it

also if your going to use your xbox or something that use HDMI use it on a nice 40inch family room tv rather than a computer monitor

my message to everyone who insists HDMI is needed
