The OCZ kit has an instruction manual too. It supposedly comes with Vista drivers only so I might need to look around if I want to go with 7 instead. but dont u think you would be better off just buying an hp or sony laptop with the warranty and reliability and not worry about all the required bs? i was about to ask what OS u were using... i know u were dissing my win 7 use, but i think u should go for win 7. its much better on power usage than vista in laptops so what ru u going to do with your netbook? sell it? Read the article I posted in the OP on the SSD hard drive, it'll make a believer out you. But since Wrathek here is offering Win 7 for dirt I'll gladly give it a go. And I actually welcome building a laptop without a shit ton of SPAMware pre-installed on a partition. Link to comment

This brings up the question I stumped my friend who is really good at computers. I aked him if I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on a laptop, would it render the webcam, mic, biometric fingerprint reader, and any other built in component that requires special drivers to not work? As mentioned, most laptop parts are proprietary and they come with proprietary drivers. Link to comment

If so it's possible to hunt down the manufacturers and see if they've updated drivers to support other OS, but it's also likely the drivers could be universal. Short answer is you'll find out when you try. Link to comment
Wrathek Posted October 19, 2009 Content Count: 1839 Joined: 09/28/08 Status: Offline Share Posted October 19, 2009 your friend sucks ass and logs of shit at computers if that stumped him. in RARE occasions it may not have FULL functionality or speed, but nearly every vista driver in existence can work just about perfectly under windows 7.. they use the same architecture.
