Dante Posted October 24, 2009 Content Count: 1824 Joined: 02/15/09 Status: Offline Share Posted October 24, 2009 So, I went ahead and bought a new computer from http://www.tigerdirect.com and it's a barebone kit. Here's the link. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5214804&Sku=B69-0123 Other than the video card which is obvious to upgrade, what are some of your recommendations for extra upgrades that can be somewhat cost efficient, Mind you i just spent $500 for this comp. Coffee Crisp Posted October 24, 2009 Content Count: 4960 Joined: 06/20/07 Status: Offline Share Posted October 24, 2009 I posted this earlier. AMD Phenom II X3 720, Kingston HyperX 4GB, HIS Radeon 4870 512MB, Western Digital Caviar 500 Black, Samsung SH-S223F, Rosewill RP550V2-S-SL on a MSI DKA790GX inside an Antec 900 for under $700. I'm pretty sure Shadow said something about getting a Gigabyte motherboard instead of a MSI though. You could probably move up a couple things like your CPU. Link to comment

You would have saved more money with us helping you choose the components. Barebone is just a big combo deal. You are going to have to build the computer and it doesn't even have an operating system. Shadowex3 Posted October 24, 2009 Content Count: 2959 Joined: 02/27/08 Status: Offline Share Posted October 24, 2009 Gigabyte/asus are the two best mobo companies. Gigabyte for lower price ranges, asus for the more expensive ones. The rest aren't really taken all that seriously anymore although DFI used to be one of the major players. Link to comment

Since you have to buy an OS anyways, this would be a total 580 with Windows 7 Home Premium. Free Shipping doesn't hurt either. I may buy this or build one from the ground up for my little cousin for Christmas. Edited October 25, 2009 by Ngo Link to comment
