Might be a bit late with my post but for future refrence if anyone is a need of tip..

I had same issue when I swapped from a 22" display to 32" HD Ready TV.. Had to use launch options to fix the resolution..

Basically what I added to my launch options is this; -w 1280 -h 720

I do realize it isn't really a big resolution but works at the moment for my usage. Also haven't had too much time to play around with it.

Ah, also good point; fix your aspect ratio to 16:9 or 16:10 in order to get all possible widescreen resolutions for show ;)

many people have this problem, a friend of me couldn't start steam anymore.

Now that there was an update, he can play it.

Waste of time if u install windows7 now, just wait for the first service pack, everything will be updated :p

nothing is wrong with it at all. there's nothing i've seen that needs to be fixed. (and by that i mean steam has worked perfectly, every game (even 10 year old ones) have worked fine, drivers are spot on, etc.)

Sorry to shatter my role-model role here:

But you don't know what in the fuck you're talking about, go back to anally stimulating yourself with ipod nanos.

sure, i just am trying to figure this out beyond googling a dirty fix like that, i don't have this problem, just the dual monitor insta-crash. (if anyone has 2 screens and uses w7, css crashes when loading for whatever reason. the way you fix it is to right click css's hl2.exe and under compatibility, check "disable desktop composition")

EDIT: also, have you checked what frequency you have the monitor set to? if the Hz is out of range, it will make your monitor do some funky things.

still googling for this nasty fix of red's but so far all i've got is try putting -freq 75

EDIT2: The fix is probably -full

also, an attempt at a real fix: for either of you, in your Nvidia Control Panel, under scaling, do you have "fixed aspect ratio" or "nvidia scaling with fixed ratio" or some sort checked? because that could be the problem.. otherwise, just strange/offmarket monitors i suppose (and with SS's being hp, i don't doubt it too much)

Also, SS, you don't need to go to windowed mode to take a screen shot.. just hit f5. it auto saves a .jpg in your css folder under screenshots or something like that.

or hit print screen and paste into paint
