uh........................................................................................................

xp doesnt have aero so it uses less battery power, needs less ram, etc.

Next Vista costs more, and the fact Vista still has some glitches.

I admit Vista is par-up to XP, but really then, why buy Vista a $100 product, when you can get the same features on XP for $50 less?

ah. i have to give respect to people that pay that much for an OS. while in pub. school, i always just got ahold of a VLK copy while at the computer center. and now.. well, we all know what i do now ;)

also, my laptop has vista (keep forgetting to put windows 7 on it), but the battery lasts a full hour LONGER on vista with aero etc ENABLED on vista as opposed to XP. this is because vista/7 were designed with "modern technology" in mind, and therefore maximize its use of battery life. Well that, and the laptop was designed with vista in mind, and so the drivers they have to control the "power mode" work vastly better.

Because XP is outdated? Some products have dropped support for XP. Microsoft is trying to push Vista and 7 now. It's the present (and future). XP is the past.

Here are some documents about XP vs Vista in the energy consumption category.

Some of those documents are dated in 2007, the energy consumption is probably way lower now.

you keep on using XP...while most of normal people with +3GB's of ram will enjoy vista...

I will try to update my dell inspiron tonight to see if it works for me..

And I belive the GPU could affect the authentication because dell has some weird shit were I guess the PC isnt the same that was delivered so to speak so it does that..

Not entirely, although i had to buy a new computer all together to upgrade my inspiron 530s, but slim version of a pc ftl.

Dell is just fine, i haven't had any problems with my computer what so ever, it's worked just fine for me.
