Firestar M-43 9mm

Little heavy, accurate, as far as a handgun can be.

Ruger .38

Can't stand the thing, miserable recoil and is inaccurate as hell, reliable though. My Mom can't even pull the trigger since it's double-action.

Hey, they looks exactly like my shotgun. If you ever get a chance to shoot it, let me know how that goes. I have yet to take mine out too.

One thing about the Mossberg 500 is that you don't need ammunition for it to be effective. If anyone ever breaks into my house, the first thing they'll hear is the sound of me cocking that shotgun. Man, I love that sound. :)

Still haven't fired it, but the problem is that it's a 30" barrel, and is only a 3+1. My uncle lent it to us but I'd just as soon go and buy a pistol grip 18" Remington from a friend of his that is a retailer for the company.

I already know Red's opinion on pistol grips but we were thinking a 16-20 gauge so my mom could handle it, any suggestions?

Yeah, that 30" barrel is a pain in the ass. Anyway, as for the number of shells that the shotgun can hold, check this video out. This dude shows how you can increase the capacity. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure if it works. It's worth trying.

My benelli had a limiter in the magazine too. Could only hold 3 in the mag and 1 in chamber. Not sure why, but all I did was remove it and buy a mag extension.

Now I'm up to 8 shells.
