Elleon Posted November 26, 2009 Content Count: 1120 Joined: 02/04/09 Status: Offline Share Posted November 26, 2009 I thought we already went over this Full? Weren't you in the chatbox with me? If you have been using the 7300 and haven't found a great number of issues, there aren't a hell of a lot of reasons to upgrade to the newest and most powerful shit out there. You say you just want something new and a bit more powerful right? Buy just that. Unless you have seen a game, list of games actually, worth an amazing card like those, don't bother. You should be perfectly content with a 9800, and if you feel you need a little boost, just upgrade then, not now. You will save the money for something down the line which in time will obviously bring down prices, have that extra cash in your pocket for other crap, and let you go through this process again so that you will get the answers you want. In one PC I have had an 8800 for more than 2 years now and it has run everything I have thrown at it so far and it will continue to run plenty for atleast a couple more years. This one I have is a 9800 and there isn't a huge difference in my opinion, aside from it running hotter. The 8800 was out of stock so i settled. Save cash by getting it online. You waiting this long, why not a couple extra days? Definentally worth it when considering what you save, possibilty of deals, etc. Link to comment

It can barely play it anymore aye? Are you going to start taking a look at your own messages any time soon? Fullmetal, do you play TF2? I am guessing that is a no because of the statement above. Lets take a moment to realise that Full is not Jazzy. Let us take another moment to help out someone that will actually be buying this hardware, as though we were actually trying to determine the best fit for him with the best prices. Now, after we have all taken this time to re-examine the entire situation, let's set aside stupid statements as said above. - TF2 is 2 years old, and will still be able to run 1-2 years from now on an 8800, at least. Will every future game suddenly jump to those system requirements in the next year or 2? It is very unlikely, and even if they did, there is no guarentee 90% that crap will even be worth your time. For me personally, Crysis wasn't, I don't like Assassin's Creed myself, TF2 wasn't too shabby for a couple of months, Bioshock lasted about 20 hours of my life and ran perfectly fine at minimum requirements, so did Oblivison, such as any stand alone generally does. You use a 7300, and have been fairly content so far. You haven't said you "need" the extra power but merely want it, so I think you can do the math. Save the cash, use that extra money to set up something worthwhile when you know what you want. Link to comment

Every new TF2 update, TF2 manages to drop FPS. Just ask anyone. I use to have about 120FPS in the Beta, now I crunch in 60s. Elleon: 90% of new games that were released by major game companies (aka non-indie games) had a recommended spec of atleast a 8800GTS. now i know that a 8800gts =! 9800gt but the 9800gt is a shittier rebranded version of a 8800gt and a 8800GTS is pretty much a 8800GT except 2% shittier. How is TF2 nearly unplayable when you're getting 60FPS? Elleon: 90% of new games that were released by major game companies (aka non-indie games) had a recommended spec of atleast a 8800GTS. Wut? Pretty much every game that comes out has a min. graphics card recommendation as a Nvidia 6800, while recommended is a 7600. Link to comment

Borderlands Graphics: 256mb video ram or better (GeForce 8 series or higher/Radeon HD3000 series or higher) Dragon Age: Origins Graphics: ATI 3850 512 MB or NVidia 8800GTS 512MB or greater Dead Space Graphics: DirectX® 9.0c compatible video card, Shader Model 3.0 required, 256 MB or better, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or better (7300, 7600 GS, and 8500 are below minimum system requirements), ATI X1600 Pro or better (X1300, X1300 Pro and HD2400 are below minimum system requirements) And don't try to pull "oh l4d2 and mw2 dont need a good gpu" thats because l4d2 uses a 6 year old engine, and modern warfare 2 uses a engine without a physics engine and its the same engine from mw1 Link to comment
