Jager Posted December 6, 2009 Content Count: 1300 Joined: 06/24/07 Status: Offline Share Posted December 6, 2009 (edited) do you have time to wait? if you do have say a month, then recommendations is to wait and see what if anything nvidia is going to bring to the table to fight the 5870/5890 cards and their various versions. Reason a month? well if nvidia cant roll new tech out they are likely to drop the price on their dx10/10.1 cards right before or after Christmas in order not to get hosed on one of the bigger tech sales periods. if nvidia does have tricks up their sleeve its still worth waiting as ATI is likely to price cut a bit off the 5870/5890s to compete if they get blindsided. the tl;dr version. wait til christmas/post christmas to try and lock in the best price for whichever you go with. ATI is currently better and cheaper then expected, 5870/5890 are the fastest around at around $400 nvidia isnt out of the game, and may get cheaper to compete, or might yank a hell of a card out of its hat by Christmas. and please for the love of god the nvidia 9 series is the nvida 8 series with some minor tweaks and a firmware update, they are hotter, and less efficient overall. you are paying for an 8800gt that nvidia updated to cover a missing market area that ati was slaughtering sales in. when it comes to gaming, get a gtx 2xx series at minimum if you want "new" nvidia tech. everything else is their older bigger core sizes. 1 Edited December 6, 2009 by Jager Link to comment

Thanks for the laugh buddy. I needed that. So the lesson of the day is to never take REGIONALS advise. His ONLY answer is a biased HD 5000 series. That is the only word that can come out of his mouth. Link to comment
