Well, if you want a quad core go for one that's atleast 2.5ghz+ if not go with a high quality dual-core.

 

dual core with a higher clock frequency is better in games than a quad core with lower frequencys at the moment, coders still concerntrate on dual cores, as the majority of pc's sold have dual cores, give it 3 years time and gaming on a quad core will have a drastict more impact on gaming than a dual core.

 

i think that is why potshot sugusted a high end dual core over a shitty ass quad

Because he really wanted a quad-core. If you looked I swapped it out for a 3.0ghz dual core and he went with it instead. As far as raw processing power goes, the quad-cores won, but for practicality in gaming a higher grade dual-core was advantageous.
