Yo , I had a q ..

Kk So My bro has his computer , nd i have mine .

Now the Modem (what we get the internet from) is plugged into his pc .

And now since I bought my pc , He has a router plugged into his pc and I have a reciever plugged into my pc .

Now , I wanted to ask.

My pc is faster and better then his ,

If I had to plug the modem into my pc , would the internet be better for both of us because maybe its plugged into a faster/better pc ?

Internet is internet, it doesnt matter if the PC is better or not. You have 2mb/s internet, you will get 2mb/s on every computer.

Correct me if Im wrong

Uh I'm really not too sure, guess you're going to have to wait until someone who knows more than I do to answer it. :\

Lol, but on a serious note, I don't think so. I don't see the logic behind what would make it faster. If anything I would guess it would be slightly slower since he would need the receiver. It's more than possible for me to be wrong though, so do wait for other opinions, but nothing in my mind says that it makes logical sense. Again, I don't know a whole lot about how they work though.

There are some complications with wireless receivers that, in my experience, could cause

it to slow. However, most of it relies on how much bandwidth is being taken up. So,

consider you have a 2 Mb connection; if your brother has 1.5 Mb of porn downloading,

you're left with only half a Mb. With that aside, I have the same setup in my house in Milwaukee. The modem is

plugged into the decked-out computer and there is an older one in the other room. Both run the same.

*cough*

anyway.. in short no. in long, no.

*cough*

In short, care to explain it to me? In long, please do. I can EASILY understand if my 4th grade internet logic is

completely wrong, but that same setup works perfectly well with me.

No.

The setup of a computer normally doesn't change your internet speed.

Obviously, downloading/uploading will affect both of your connections.

Like Neji said, internet is internet.

i wasn't saying you were wrong, dwarves. assume im responding to OP unless i say @username or quote a post. do not make mocking replies when you assume something incorrect, it makes you sound like a dumb ass.

i was saying that the idea of thinking a better computer hooked up to a modem will make the internet faster was wrong, if not laughable.
