Spiral Posted January 11, 2010 Content Count: 352 Joined: 10/01/09 Status: Offline Share Posted January 11, 2010 With as much cash as 2500$ I see no reason to even consider going below a i7, preferably the 920 for the best bang for the buck. i7's are far more future-proof than Phenom II's. For graphics you could probably crossfire some 5870s or just grab a 5970 if you can find somewhere with them in stock. I wouldn't recommend socket 1156 since they're limited to two 8x lanes, which while doesn't really make much of a difference with 2 cards, it definately will in the future. Socket 1366 will also have the new six core gulftown cpu's coming out, which is nice upgradability in the long road. Link to comment

TheVirus Posted January 11, 2010 Content Count: 3391 Joined: 06/12/09 Status: Offline Share Posted January 11, 2010 $2500 is quite a lot of money. Any mid-high level quad core CPU, 8GB RAM (DDR2 or DDR3), Gigabyte/Abit/etc motherboard, GTX 290 or whatever is current GPU. He can max out essentially everything and come under $2500.
