Why the F would he go amd with that kind of budget?? Bilbo calm down and think a little..

something I started a while back : https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=10708511

Since he has a better budjet than me upgrade PSU to 850 or more, add a nice GPU.. upgrade the mobo to this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188039 or

this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131365

Ive heard not so good things about EVGA mobos but these ratings seems to tell me they are good!

Get water cooling!

Upgrade ram too maybe

$2500 is quite a lot of money. Any mid-high level quad core CPU, 8GB RAM (DDR2 or DDR3), Gigabyte/Abit/etc motherboard, GTX 290 or whatever is current GPU. He can max out essentially everything and come under $2500.

im pretty sure that what he wants

and to Bilbo, disregarding the price, Intel > AMD, I don't see why he would to save money when he is already willing to pay 2.5k.

thank you though

antec 1200/haf 932

intel i7 920

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231223

1000 watt corsair psu

any blu ray optical drive

gtx 295/ati 5870/gtx 285/2 ati 5770 crossfire

two 2tb seagate 10krpm drives.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188039

-I suggested that 932...but it might be a little narrow for aircooling thats why I suggested the cool master which has awesome ratings..1200 is tall but still a bit narrow

-1000 is useless unless he has multiple cards..why not but make sure you go modular..go with lower wattage and get modular if you cant afford 1000W, Corsair > the best Quality/price according to shadow

-Blueray is useless imo unless you get a burner.. a little expensive (reason I say that is most people have a player or a ps3..so get a burner and pirate netflix movies)

-GPUs suggested are good

-PLEASE POST A LINK OF A 2TB 10K prm drive!! they are none on new egg..that yould be 2gs by it self...

It's according to Jonnyguru, who straps them to a bench and actually tests them 5 times for everything from the waveform of the juice they deliver to vdroop when under stress.

That said Regionals is the closest to a decent build so far. Nvidia's chipsets are crap, nobody elses motherboards hold a candle to gigabyte and asus nowadays (hence why they lead competitive benchmarking), and intels processors are still kicking ass and taking names.

Core i7 920 $280

Corsair 750TX $115

Asus P6T Deluxe V2 $280 (x16-x16-x1 or X16-x8-x8)

Regionals' Gskill ram suggestion $145

EVGA Gtx 285 $390

Noctua NH-U12P SE $61

Seagate 1tb 7200rpm hdd $100

Whatever case he wants, Assume $150

Total of about $1500

Tell him to save the rest to pay for upgrading his graphics card over the next 3-4 years. I really need to find a way to start making money off of doing this >/

I'm anti intel type o'person, prolly shoulda mentioned that, while I type this on core2duo lol

Well, I don't think you should be helping then. Biased opinions are no good when it comes to tech support. It's not what you like/dislike, it's what your client wants. Just because you dislike Intel doesn't mean that your client dislikes Intel.

The way I think of it is "Biased support = no support". You are not the first to fall victim of this rank.

not that I care that much for your credit but he didnt suggest a mobo, I did and the same as you..and he suggested a hard drive that doesnt exist..twice.. just saying..

thanks for the aircooling add tho I was wondering myself

And that PSU is good but I still think modular is a must now that it is available and I suggested the same one as you but modular
