I would suggest you wait until at least March, which is when Nvidia is supposed to come out with their new cards. Even if you're not planning on going Nvidia, it will still help lower ATI's prices.

then we'll get to march and he'll wait till may for ati to come out with their new card so the Nvidia new cards get cheaper and so on..your argument is invalid..if it was next week id say sure but 3 month common...especially since they first announced them for last december a few month back so there is no certitude that they will be out in march!

Why not spend a few more bucks and get the 2GB version? Video RAM allows you to have higher res textures.

Also, I hate Asus motherboards. I will never recommend them or use them again.

6GB of RAM is pointless. Get 8GB (2x4GB) so you can run in dual channel. G.Skill

I love Cooler Master cases.

You also don't have a power supply. This is probably the most critical part of the computer as a really shitty one will fry everything.

Why exactly are you recommending him to use dual channel? Triple channel is simply better. I'm pretty sure 2x4GB kits would cost alot more too.

An 1000W PSU is also overkill, you're never going to need that much power. Corsair and PC Power & Cooling are generally known as the best companies for quality power supplies. Something like the Corsair 850TX would be perfectly fine for him. It's also 110$ cheaper.

That full tower is uselessly huge the HAF 922 is plenty big!!

1000W PSU as mentioned is also not needed (and I dont know much about this brand but not one of the maket's top)

6GB is trichannel ram it will work fine!

I forgot about triple channel, my bad. Also, your case can never be too big and your PSU can never be too powerful. It's better to future proof your computer so you don't have to buy parts in the future. That PSU should last you several upgrades.
