Found this cool little program called Vista Anti-Lag, It only uses 3Mb of ram and almost no cpu usage.

About every 30 seconds, Vista checks for available connection points, which can make you lagg for about 0.5-1 seconds and it can get irritating.

Here is the download, no installation needed, just save it and run the VAL icon.

Is this only for wireless internet?

I run on Vista and I might use this for a short while until I get Windows 7.

I will let you guys know, I just switched to Windows 7 and I will try not running the program, but it will have to wait until this weekend because I have exams and I won't be on my wireless-vista computer.

So in the meantime someone else could try.

Also a note for XP and probably Windows 7 users you can fix this by going to run-->msconfig, then go to services and disable Wireless Zero Configuration. Same thing as you described in original post, doesn't even require a program. It won't let you select the router you connect to,but it will automatically connect to the default network, so typically this isn't a problem at all.
