Do you think flaming in this thread will help Haitian people?

Of course not, but to be honest, I don't think anyone believes this thread will either.

P.s. - Grats on admin by the way.

To the people who think I can't help. There are medicS, soldiers, doctors you name it. And people are still on the streets dieing. I could care less if I spent two weeks giving out food to the hungry. I could care less if I unloaded boxes for 2 weeks. Whatever they need me to do I'll do it. I'll dig for bodies , help rebuild a school or home. If a child is crying and alone I'll pick him up and make him feel better. What you guys don't understand is you don't need to be a person in uniform tohelp. Cause if that was the case why are regular Haitian people helping why don't all the redcross and marines do all the work. There are people dying on the streets from thirst and hunger I I can make a difference in one life that's more than enough. If I can feed one child for a day that's better than nothing. These people are dying the whole nation is on the verge of going insane and I'm not Gunnar turn my back on them when I have the ability to help them

With that said I'm not asking you guys to help I'm asking you to support me by joining a group on facebook. So I ask my fellow steamgamers support me if you want if not I don't wanna hear about it

This is a public thread flash and no matter what the topic is, you should be aware that it will always become subject to public opinion. Now, I can easily argue that because you are apart of SG, I have every right to care because I do, and if need be, voice my negative opinion if I think it is more than relevant to the matter.

You could very well possibly help another human being, those in Haiti of course, but while you pretend to romanticize this misguided notion that it is just that simple, you are quite mistaken. Simply buying a ticket to a foreign country isn't enough and running out there unprepared and inexperienced can do more damage than good, in any situation, but most definentally in one such as this.

Since you have decided to defend yourself and suggest you don't need a uniform to help (false to great extent), I assume you are none of those who do wear them. Are you apart of an orginiation or association, affiliate of any such programs and or ventures that are there to aid? Have you ever experienced anything out of the normal such as this?

I don't mind if people want to make a difference, but I prefer they do what they can, when they can, in an environment they can handle. You have yet to share with us any significant information that suggests that Haiti is this enviornment, and that worries me.

I disagree with Elleon. You don't need a uniform to help people, and I don't know why he thinks you do. BUT I agree with him on the fact that it's probably costing you a fair bit to travel there, and the money you're using to travel there MAY be able to be put to better use just donating what you would to go there yourself, and have the money help them.

There is no need for a uniform to distinguish the capacity to help people, but there is one in this case, and in any case like it. It doesn't have to be the uniform of a cop, a firefighter, or a government official, but you do need one that represents aide or an affiliate of one.

If you think a foreigner or just about anyone in general can waltz straight into Haiti and start tossing food around, you are sadly mistaken.

I agree with the rest of what you have stated though and I strongly suggest this be Flash's tactic.

Have you even been able to buy a ticket yet? I ask because, considering the situation over there, I suspect even trying to access the country has some, underlying circumstances; that particular part anyways.

Unless you travel with some organization or people who have some pull, you will accomplish very little. You have no credibility to back yourself up. You really think the people over there will accept you with open arms? I'm going to assume you have medical or field training, you've never worked with construction equipment, you are unable to carry excessive weight, no knowledge of power tools, machines, forklifts and the likes. As stated before, you'll end up being a hindrance if you go over there with no plan. You will be wasting someone's time by asking what you can do or where to go.

Assuming the best case scenario and you are able to go with an organization or group. You're still being extremely selfish by spending your money to travel since you have no disaster survival skills. Your money is better spent donating to people who CAN help.

This isn't a disaster in the US, you can't just drive or walk there and help you. You're going to be flying or sailing into a foreign country to try and help. I'm not even sure if Haiti is accepting civilians, have you looked into that? Do you know where you'll be staying? I'm not sure the hotels there are accepting business and I'm also fairly certain that the majority of the area does not have flowing water and electricity.

While your intentions are admirable, you're being extremely naive. You aren't a wealthy millionaire that has connections, a staff, money, transportation, etc, that can make a difference by shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars. You're simply another body that isn't trained to handle the situation.

Excellent, and yet you seem to have neglected to mention everything in this statement up until now. You are faceless on facebook and I don't see how any of this would have been problem when writing the thread or that thing you made.

Still, you don't have experience.

This is an impoverished country that has been hit by one of the world's greatest natural disasters, rampant with violence, crime, poverty, disease, famine, deather, etc.. You spoke strongly on the subject and yet you also depicted your departure as though it were a 1-2 week spring break trip.

**********

"Hey guys i really want to go to Haiti in the Spring/Summer time, basically when I find time. I will spend at least a week regardless. But for every 100,000 people that join I will spend a week.

So if more than 300,000 people join I will break up the time to something like 2 weeks in the Spring and I will just keep going til i fufill my promise."

**********

Building some home offices aye and some other stuff? During the leave and during the stay, you will just be "tagging along"?

Not to be offensive, but your words speak volumes of your ineptitude.

EDIT:

Lol sorry if I mislead you guys I am going with an organization. There are some that go for a week some that go longer. So I need to choose who I wanna go with.

Apparently you will be making a spring break trip afterall. Here i thought this was serious. Goodluck on whatever it is...you are planning to do.

so how the fuck does 100,000 people joining a face group going to make someone stay a week in that hell hole? I have been working with the fire dept on a military project of airdrops for nothing more then a few slices of pizza.

If u really want to go there just go don't show off that ur a helper because that only makes u look like a poser. and that's the last thing they need.

and besides what training do u have?
