Oh hai.

I've been having some problems with my CS:S.

I will keep it short.

While playing the FPS drops significantly.

I'm talking +/- 9 fps.

What can I do?

Changing resolution doesn't help.

It used to run fine on my laptop, this has been a problem for the last few weeks.

  • Formatted the laptop last week
  • Disabled quite a few services which could slow it down.
  • Obviously no viruses/spyware
  • Installed latest graphic driver

If your fps is starting off at around normal and then drops down to 9 fps (css wont say anything else lower than about 9 fps) it is almost guaranteed to be a heating issue. If possible disassembles your laptop and dust the fuck out of it. Or take a can of compressed air and go crazy....

And indeed it was.

Don't know how it was possible, but there was dust everywhere.

It's been cleaned out by the official Acer repair people 2/3 months ago.

Guess they did a great job.

Thanks everyone, this can now be locked.
