haha good old mike portnoy. my friends in high were obsessed with him and as much as i resisted, i took an interest to dream theater and his style. i dont always like what he does; sometimes i think its too busy, but he has influenced me quite a bit. i bought his signature 9" splash and i love it! its cracked a lot around the center but it hasnt affected the sound much.

portnoy was the first drummer i remember hearing fills where your playing 16th notes and you play them like SNARE-SNARE-KICK-KICK TOM1-TOM1-KICK-KICK TOM2-TOM2-KICK-KICK TOM3-TOM3-KICK-KICK. best way to describe without attatching a picture. i dont know if he was the first, but he's the first i remember using it extensively, now EVERYONE does that and i find it annoying now so i try not to do it too much.

of course i would love to get a ton of new gear, but i just dont have a job or money. Besides i can totally get better on this kit, which i'm trying to do... very slowly at least. I don't play constantly, but i do enjoy playing the kit.

so can anyone tell me what the major difference is between evans heads and remo heads. I currently have remo heads. I know there are more than just these 2 but i would say they are the most popular.

uhh.. in my opinion, it's just preference. they both produce different heads that will give off different sounds. it's basically like comparing sabian and zildjian cymbals, they both make the basically the same thing and the sounds are very much similar.

I'm a drummer,

I currently do not play in a band or anything of the sort,

I've been playing for about as long as I can remember

I have a Pearl Export 8-Piece Double Bass Drum Set, I've had it for quite a long time and it is a mishmash of random things

I play metal and heavy kinds of music

My influences are:

Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall)

The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold)

Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
