i was having a similar problem with my display drivers, but windows 7 was nice enough to stop them, restart them, and so i can uninstall them, then reinstall them.

 

Or in XP's case, you boot into safe mode. Why the fuck would you need to reformat?

well when the display driver says its no longer working properly and the computer wont start ima guess its the driver .. i prob coulda fixed it in safe mode but really didnt feel like dealing with it so i just reformatted not like i have all kinds of important stuff on my comp anyway..

but its up and runnin fine now i made recovery discs when i got it just gotta re-install everything..
