I've been trying to convince people of that for a good decade Pepper, people just don't care about technological superiority when they can have ZOMGSHINY status symbol flatpanels that are easy to carry around.

Exactly, people wonder why I use a CRT, they just don't get that I like functionality, more than I care looks.

Or the fact that CRT monitors are ugly as shit and take up 3x the space an LCD does?

I dont know about you but I really dont care that much about how my monitor looks, that is just like caring how my case looks, doesnt affect me that much. My desk is pretty big, I'll take the $300 that I saved by using an old CRT, and buy a nice desk, some strippers, and some pizza.

LCDs give off a much better and sharper image. I would much rather have a clear, non-fuzzy experience over 120hz. Once I went LCD, I never looked back.

Having a lightweight, portable LCD is good for those of us who go to LAN parties. I couldn't imagine bringing a huge, clunky CRT to a LAN party.

I bring my CRT monitor to LAN parties. It's not really that heavy; you have to be weak like Obez to not be able to carry it. Anyways, the actual computer itself is usually heavier, so... lol. Secondly, my CRT monitor has great resolution, and I use 1024x768. It's fine, great quality, end of story. I'm not going to be spending 100 dollars more on an LCD monitor. I got this CRT for free anyways, and it's fine.

It's just a bigger hassle to be lugging that huge ass monitor around. Plus, while you're rocking your 1024x768 monitor I'm rocking my 2048x1152 monitor. Mine has more than twice the resolution as yours. I don't see any advantages CRT has other than they're cheaper which is to be expected of an outdated technology.

Pros use CRTS, you want to be a pro dont you?

(Pros in a game mod community :p )

Your definition of "Pro" seems to be a bit washy. I'm sure if you walked into a LAN with a CRT you would get some seriously odd looks.

Enjoy your laggy-pixel 60hz 2048x1152 with a tiny little color gamut, I'll be rocking my 85hz instant-response ~1500P resolution. LCDs are the reason we need to put up with 30fps caps on games optimized for resolutions half of what CRTs have been capable of for over a decade. But feel free to continue enjoying your "sharp" display that's actually muddied up with cleartype and other forms of blurring to get over the fact you can't display a non-square image cleanly like a CRT can.

CRT's have always, and will always, be an inherently superior technology to LCD flatpanels. A CRT of the same diagonal as an LCD will have a higher resolution, it will have a larger color gamut, it will have superior brightness and contrast, and it will have a far better response time by virtue of being nearly instant.

But it's clunkier and less modern. It needs to be sleek with sexy lines and take up as little space as possible.
