Finzz Posted March 21, 2010 Content Count: 464 Joined: 09/23/07 Status: Offline Share Posted March 21, 2010 I am putting a new hard drive in my computer because I am low on space. Is there a way to configure Steam to start using the second drive, like, have two steam folders? One folder on each drive? Or would I have to move all of my steam stuff to the second hard drive? Ive read the WD CB has similar performance then the raptor anyway.. If you wanna go small expensive, SSD is the only way to go and the raptor isnt.... these are used for your OS and a very selective range of applications that the user need to be fast... You wont see a "worthy" difference running CSS Link to comment
duhoh Posted March 23, 2010 Content Count: 716 Joined: 01/16/10 Status: Offline Share Posted March 23, 2010 a 7200 rpm HDD is fine for games. the only difference you may have to load up times for booting an OS with a raptor. 1TB is an obvious choice. Link to comment

I asked because I was only going to put a few games on it to see how good it is, I wasn't gonna try to fit all of my steam folder on it lol. I just wanted to know if it would be better for loading times, than the 1TB is, but trakaill answered my question anyway. Link to comment
Wrathek Posted March 25, 2010 Content Count: 1839 Joined: 09/28/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 25, 2010 what you should do, is take your current hard drive that has everything in it out, after buying the 1TB HDD. Take your dad's raptor, format it and install a fresh copy of windows on it. Install all programs and put all your files on the 1TB HDD, and just let the raptor be there to enable you to boot faster, also make the paging file take up the vast majority of what remains of the raptor. It's what I would suggest with an SSD (minus the paging file), but since you've already got a raptor for free, it'd be slightly comparable to say the least. And after all of that, format your current drive and keep it in the computer as well, for backup and storage purposes. 1 Link to comment
